Plot Synopsis

The iconic heroes and villains of THE VAMPIRE DIARIES and THE ORIGINALS have left an enduring legacy of love and family in their wake, which continues in LEGACIES, a one-hour drama series that tells the story of the next generation of supernatural beings at The Salvatore Boarding School for the Young and Gifted. Under the guidance of headmaster Alaric Saltzman, it's here that Klaus Mikaelson's daughter, 17-year-old Hope Mikaelson; Alaric Saltzman's twins, Lizzie and Josie Saltzman; and other young adults -- including high-energy vampire MG, newly-triggered werewolf Rafael Waithe, and the mysterious Landon Kirby -- come of age in the most unconventional way possible, nurtured to be their best selves...in spite of their worst impulses. Will these young witches, vampires and werewolves become the heroes they want to be -- or the villains they were born to be? As they fight to protect their secret, their town of Mystic Falls and eventually the world, they have to rely on ancient folklore and tales to learn how to battle their far-reaching enemies.

The sophomore season of LEGACIES premiered on Thursday, October 10, 2019 at 9pm ET/PT on The CW. In the season opener, "I'll Never Give Up Hope," after discovering that there may be a way out of Malivore, Hope becomes more determined than ever to find her way back to Mystic Falls. Alaric, who is still reeling after being voted out as headmaster by the honor council, continues looking into the mysterious night Malivore was destroyed. Elsewhere, as the students leave for summer vacation, Landon stays behind to keep an eye on Rafael, while MG heads to Atlanta to spend time with Kaleb's (guest star Chris Lee) family. Finally, while Lizzie spends the summer in Europe with Caroline, Josie searches for answers about the mysterious ascendant that Alaric was keeping from them. Julie Plec directed the episode written by Brett Matthews & Julie Plec.

LEGACIES returned for its third season on Thursday, January 21, 2021 at 9pm ET/PT on The CW. In Season 2, Hope Mikaelson returned to a world that had forgotten she ever existed and reunited with her former Headmaster, Alaric Saltzman. Working together, Hope and Dr. Saltzman ultimately rejoined The Salvatore School to lead their Super Squad of powerful vampires, witches and werewolves, including Lizzie & Josie Saltzman, MG, Rafael, and Kaleb and even a Phoenix, her true love Landon, into battle against a dizzying horde of fantastic and deadly monsters birthed from the Malivore Pit ... and their old nemesis, The Necromancer, who was determined to resurrect Malivore. As Season 3 begins, Hope has risked everything to pull her friends back from the brink of a monstrous prophecy that threatened to doom them all. But when a heartbreaking loss shatters her whole world, Hope Mikaelson will be forced to fight fate itself.

Season 4 of LEGACIES premiered on Thursday, October 14, 2021 at 9pm ET/PT on The CW. In the season opener, "You Have to Pick One This Time," after learning that Malivore has taken over Landon's body, Hope and the Super Squad come up with a risky plan to rescue Landon, as well as Cleo (guest star Omono Okojie), who has been absorbed into Malivore's darkness. Meanwhile, an impromptu date with Finch (guest star Courtney Bandeko) brings up a subject that Josie is not ready to talk about. After a two-month break, LEGACIES returned with new episodes on Thursday, February 24, 2022 at 9pm ET/PT on The CW. Cleo, MG and Jed work together on an unusual mission. Alaric, Landon, and Ted (guest star Ben Geurens) figure out what is next for them. Meanwhile, an unexpected source takes Hope by surprise.
