Plot Synopsis

In this one-hour series, LEAH REMINI: SCIENTOLOGY AND THE AFTERMATH, Leah Remini, along with high level former Scientology executives and Church members, delves deep into shocking stories of abuse, heartbreak and harassment experienced by those who have left the church and spoken publicly about their experiences. The series explores individual accounts from ex-Church members and their families through meetings and interviews with Leah. Each episode features stories from former members whose lives have been affected by the Church's harmful practices, even well after they left the organization. Along with a team of former high-ranking Scientology insiders who understand the inner workings and policies of the organization, Leah gives the victims a chance to be heard. "This series is about sharing the truth about Scientology. Truth born out of very personal experiences. Truth that is shocking, things I did not expect to find when I embarked on the journey of making these shows," Remini said. "For too long, this multi-billion-dollar organization bullied victims and journalists to prevent the truth being told. It is my hope that we shed light on information that makes the world aware of what is really going on and encourages others to speak up so the abuses can be ended forever. I hope that people who have left now feel they have a safe place to go. I hope others who have also experienced abuses will come forward and help us to do something about it."

The 10-episode second season of LEAH REMINI: SCIENTOLOGY AND THE AFTERMATH premiered on Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at 9pm ET/PT on A&E. Season 2 further explores accounts of former Scientology members whose lives have been significantly impacted by the Church's practices. In the season opener, "Thetans in Young Bodies," ex-Scientologists Leah Remini and Mike Rinder continue their mission to expose and give voice to the victims of Scientology practices. Mirriam and Saina, two women raised together inside the Church of Scientology's now defunct Cadet Org, share heartrending stories of abandonment and sexual abuse. With Leah's moral support, they both take a courageous step toward achieving justice.

Season 3 of LEAH REMINI: SCIENTOLOGY AND THE AFTERMATH premiered on Tuesday, November 27 at 9pm ET/PT on A&E. In the season opener, "Star Witness," Scientology's Gold Base in Riverside County, California, has been shrouded in mystery for years. The heavily guarded compound houses up to 1,000 members of the Sea Org, the church's elite inner core. Ex-members who have left report harsh working conditions, abuse and the existence of a double-wide trailer housing facility known as "The Hole." In a rare insider's view of Gold, Valerie Haney tells of her years as Scientology first lady Shelly Miscavige's personal steward and how after two decades in the Sea Org, with conditions at the base leading her to contemplate suicide, Valerie makes a bold move.

On Monday, August 26, 2019 from 9-11pm ET/PT, A&E premiered "Waiting for Justice," a two-hour special that also serves as the series finale. Filmed for the first time in front of a live studio audience, Leah Remini and Mike Rinder explore stories of how Church of Scientology policies have hindered members from reporting instances of abuse and sexual assault to the authorities. They will speak to a number of ex-Scientologists who share their stories of abuse at the hands of other Scientologists, and describe how these policies are aimed at preventing the alleged crimes from becoming public. The episode will also feature a panel of legal, psychological and law-enforcement experts, who provide insight into the impact Scientology's practices have had on its former parishioners and advise how they can seek justice and effect change in the future.
