Plot Synopsis

Created, written and executive produced by Julian Doucet, THE LAKE is a half-hour comedy series that follows Justin as he returns from living abroad after a break-up with his long-term partner, in the hope of reconnecting with the biological daughter that he gave up for adoption in his teens. His plans to create new memories with his city-loving daughter Billie at the idyllic lake from his childhood go awry when he finds out his father left the family cottage to his "picture-perfect" stepsister, Maisy-May. All eight episodes of THE LAKE dropped on Friday, June 17, 2022 on Prime Video.

The sophomore season of THE LAKE premiered on Friday, June 9, 2023 on Prime Video, as the streaming service released all eight episodes of the new season. Justin, Maisy-May, and Billie are joined for the summer by Maisy-May's mom, Mimsy, whose presence adds even more drama to the mixed-family dynamic. In Season 2, Justin and Riley decide to make their relationship official. But their plans, along with the beloved boathouse, go up in flames. Carrying equal parts shame and blame, Justin sets out to prove his innocence, rebuild the heart of the lake, and win back the man he loves. Meanwhile, Maisy-May is dealing with a wildfire of her own: The return of her mother Mimsy, who claims she's dying and wants to spend her final summer with her family on the lake. Billie returns for what is meant to be a one-week vacation. Her holiday changes after a gorgeous tree planter, Forrest, and a fierce climate activist, Ivy, suddenly give her two reasons to blow up her summer.
