Plot Synopsis

THE L WORD: GENERATION Q is a one-hour series that continues to follow the intermingled lives of three characters from THE L WORD -- Bette Porter, Alice Pieszecki & Shane McCutcheon -- along with new characters -- PR exec Dani Nunez, her girlfriend and TV producer Sophie Suarez, their best friend and roommate Micah Lee & former Olympic swimmer (Sarah) Finley -- as they experience love, heartbreak, sex, setbacks and success in Los Angeles. Ten years after THE L WORD ended, viewers find Bette running for mayor of Los Angeles; Shane as she returns to the city after a setback; and Alice learning to balance co-parenting with her fiancee Nat and Nat's ex-wife Gigi and the rising success of her talk show. Bette weathers continued fallout as she prepares for an LGBTQIA Center talk. Meanwhile, Shane helps Finley, while Alice is annoyed when the network forces her to bring on a new staff member. Dani and Sophie celebrate good news as Dani begins a new job. Micah pursues a new crush.

The second season of THE L WORD: GENERATION Q premiered on Sunday, August 8, 2021 at 10pm ET/PT on Showtime. Season 2 kicks off in the aftermath of Sophie's decision at the airport as she, Dani, and Finley are all left to pick up the pieces. Meanwhile, Bette's personal and professional pursuits force her to reexamine her roots -- something Angie also questions and explores in her own way. In the wake of her divorce, Shane throws herself into finding new ways to keep the bar thriving, while Alice is surprised when writing her first book steers her whole life in a new direction. Micah is pushed to reckon with his identity as he navigates big changes in his career and love life, while Gigi's journey to move on from Nat (guest star Stephanie Allynne) and Alice takes an unexpected turn. In the season opener, "Late to the Party," Bette is forced to navigate some major changes in both her personal and professional life, including a big request from Angie. Shane gets pulled into LA's high stakes, underground poker scene as Alice and Nat readjust to couple-hood. Meanwhile, Sophie, Dani and Finley all must deal with the fallout of Sophie's decision at the airport and Micah navigates his new normal following Jose's bombshell revelation. L WORD: GENERATION Q moved to Monday nights at 9pm, beginning September 13, 2021. In this new episode, "Love Shack," during an explosive karaoke night at Dana's, Bette is pushed to be honest about what she really wants, Shane deals with the fallout from an ex's visit and Alice confronts her true feelings for Tom. Meanwhile, everything left unsaid among Sophie, Dani and Finley threatens to finally come out and Micah struggles to figure out where he stands with Maribel.
