Plot Synopsis

Created and executive produced by Dave Holstein, KIDDING is a half-hour comedy series that stars Jim Carrey as Jeff (aka Mr. Pickles), an icon of children's television and a beacon of kindness and wisdom to America's impressionable young minds and the parents who grew up with him. When this beloved personality's family begins to implode, Jeff finds no fairytale, fable or puppet can guide him through the crisis, which advances faster than his means to cope. The result: A kind man in a cruel world faces a slow leak of sanity as hilarious as it is heartbreaking. Throughout the season, Jeff pushes back against the limits of the well-oiled machine that is Mr. Pickles' Puppet Time and its executive producer Seb. Fearing Jeff's mental state could ruin the branding empire they've built, Seb begins preparing the show for a life after Jeff, while head puppet maker Deirdre grapples with her own personal and professional issues. In the series opener, "Green Means Go," Jeff Pickles thinks it's time to talk about death on his show, but his producer feels that Mr. Pickles the persona and Jeff Pickles the person should remain separate; meanwhile, Deirdre punishes Maddy for not eating her veggies.

The 10-episode second season of KIDDING premiered on Sunday, February 9, 2020 from 10-11pm ET/PT, as Showtime debuted back-to-back new episodes. This season picks up moments after Season 1's cliffhanger, and with his beloved Mr. Pickles' Puppet Time off the air for the first time in 30 years, Jeff Pickles must find a way to communicate with his many fans who still need him. Jeff creates a new and controversial method to talk directly to children across the world only to become the target of animosity for the first time in his career. As Jeff navigates the most complicated moral gray areas of his life, he discovers a new side of himself in a season full of music, magic, puppets and pathos.

On Sunday, March 8, 2020 from 9:50-11pm ET/PT, Showtime premiered back-to-back new episodes to end Season 2 of KIDDING:

"The Nightingale Pledge" (9:50pm): Jeff learns the safest place for him is far away from everyone. Will talks to a mysterious visitor at his school. With Maddy's help, Deirdre gets a win for the show.

"The Puppet Dalai Lama" (10:20pm): Jill asks Jeff a question he isn't sure if he can answer.
