Plot Synopsis

This thriller, a two-part German adaptation of Henning Mankell's best-selling novel, takes a mother, archaeologist Louise Cantor, on a harrowing search from Sweden to Spain and to Africa in search of the reason why her son, Henrik, died. Refusing to believe it was a suicide, Louise and her ex-husband Aron embark on a dangerous search for the truth. In Mozambique, she penetrates a complex world of neo-colonial exploiters, and begins to suspect that a reputable AIDS clinic is carrying out deadly experiments on healthy people -- and she discovers Henrik may have been leading a dangerous double life. Broadcast in German with English subtitles, MHz Worldview aired the U.S. premiere of this series on Sunday, October 27, 2013 at 9pm ET.
