Plot Synopsis
THE KANDI FACTORY is a reality series that follows Kandi Burruss as she helps aspiring artists jumpstart their dreams in the music industry. In each 60-minute episode, Kandi coaches two proteges with no industry experience -- from their rocky recording sessions to their stumbling dance moves -- as she transforms them with her team of experts. At the end of each episode, Kandi selects one of the artists to get the ultimate career break: an original song based on their personal life and written by Kandi herself, plus, a music video produced by her accomplished team. Kandi, now known from THE REAL HOUSEWIVES OF ATLANTA, is a former member of the platinum-selling music group Xscape and a Grammy award-winning singer/songwriter, who wrote mega-hits like "No Scrubs" for TLC and "Bills, Bills, Bills" for Destiny's Child. Her team includes: producer Don Vito, who has worked on multiple genres in the music industry, including Kim Zolciak's single, "Tardy for the Party"; choreographer Victor Jackson, who has worked on performances for artists including Lil Wayne, En Vogue and Chante Moore; and stylist Kwame Waters, who is a personal shopper for some of the industry's chart toppers including Perri 'Pebbles' Reid, Tiny and En Vogue. The 16 aspiring performers are: Kristin Duarte (hometown: San Antonio, TX); Garrison Bailey (San Diego, CA); Bryan Bourque (Church Point, LA); Matthew Cash (Chicago, IL); Jennifer Chianesi (Cranston, RI); Kevin Dancy (Houston, TX); Terrence Murphy (Macon, GA); Mejgan Sediqzadah (Flushing, NY); Cory Singer (S. Plainfield, NJ); Logan Smith (Pittsburg, CA); Lauryn Story (Houston, TX); Harmik Thomasian (New Britain, CT); Lizzy VanPatten (Marysville, WA); Darian Wilkerson (Houston, TX); Tasha Williams (Dayton, OH); and Brandon Wolf (Canby, OR). Bravo first aired THE KANDI FACTORY as a 90-minute special on March 4, 2012 at 10pm ET/PT, more than one year before the official series premiere.
