Plot Synopsis

Former Detroit-area District Court Judge Greg Mathis renders decisions that are legal and binding, as he combines a mix of social commentary, humor, and humanity. In each hour-long episode, he uses his bench to provide resolution, counsel litigants, and find a positive solution for the most dire situations. Typical plaintiffs include: a woman, who says the defendant vandalized her home, because the defendant thinks her husband is having an affair with the plaintiff's daughter; a woman, who says her former roommate is very promiscuous; a man, who sues his ex-girlfriend for unreturned property and demands a paternity test for her youngest child; and a woman, who says the defendants kidnapped her daughter.

Season 15 debuted on Monday, September 9, 2013, featuring a woman suing her former friend, claiming the defendant is a known prostitute.

On Monday, September 8, 2014, JUDGE MATHIS returned for its sixteenth season. In the Season 16 premiere, the defendant says a teacher started a fight in a grocery store by chest-bumping her.

Season 17 premiered on Monday, September 7, 2015 in national syndication (check local listings for time and channel). The season opener featured three cases -- Knight vs. Turner (taped May 6); Tomasetti vs. Turnbow (taped May 21); and Graham vs. King (taped June 2) -- and in one of those cases, the defendant says the plaintiff -- her sister -- was a drug dealer who stabbed her ex with a steak knife.

JUDGE MATHIS returned for its 23rd season on Monday, September 6, 2021 in national syndication (check local listings for time and channel). In the season opener, a woman sues her son for parking tickets and emotional distress and says that, because her past drug addiction ruined their relationship, she's been trying to make amends, but he refuses to let go what has happened in the past.

Season 24 of JUDGE MATHIS debuted on Monday, September 5, 2022 in national syndication (check local listings). In the season's first episode, a woman sues her daughter for repayment of a loan to go to Las Vegas.
