Plot Synopsis
Inspired by Jim Gaffigan's real life, this half-hour single-camera comedy series explores one man's struggle to find a balance between fatherhood, stand-up comedy and an insatiable appetite. The series, executive produced by writing team Jim and Jeannie Gaffigan, also features Ashley Williams as Jim's off-beat Catholic wife, Jeannie, and the couple are joined by these characters: Jim's aggressively single comedian friend, Dave; Daniel, Jeannie's gay ex-boyfriend and confidante, who is also Jim's biggest critic; and their endearing priest, Father Nicholas. Throughout the season, there are also special celebrity cameos by Chris Rock, Steve Buscemi, Rachel Maddow, Keith Olbermann, Lawrence O'Donnell, Joe Scarborough, Mika Brzezinski, Dave Attell, Hannibal Buress, Macaulay Culkin, Janeane Garofalo among others. On Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at 11pm ET/PT, TV Land premiered a sneak-peek episode, immediately following the series finale of HOT IN CLEVELAND, and then again on Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at 10:30pm ET/PT after the Season 1 finale of YOUNGER. TV Land presented the official series premiere on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at 10pm ET/PT, with a simulcast on Nick at Nite. TV Land premieres Season 2 of THE JIM GAFFIGAN SHOW on Sunday, June 19, 2016 from 10-11pm ET/PT with two back-to-back episodes. In the season opener (10pm), "The Calling," Jim searches for the purpose for which he was put on this planet and finds surprising answers. Then, in the night's second new episode (10:30pm), "The Trial," Jim finds himself jailed and on trial for a crime he may or may not have committed. Season 2 features guest star turns and cameos by Jerry Seinfeld, Zachary Quinto, Alec Baldwin, Raven Symone, John Mulaney, Macaulay Culkin, John Mulaney, Cardinal Timothy Dolan, Judy Gold, Carrot Top, Gilbert Gottfried, Artie Lange, Nickelback, Perez Hilton and Tyler Oakley.
