Plot Synopsis

Inspired by Sakyo Komatsu's 1973 book, "Japan Sinks," JAPAN SINKS: PEOPLE OF HOPE is a one-hour live-action series that focuses on environmental issues in light of the present situation, using newly created characters that tell a more realistic story set in Tokyo in 2023. With the Kanto region threatened by catastrophic sea level rise, bureaucrats and reporters are caught between corruption, panic and the truth. The first episode of JAPAN SINKS: PEOPLE OF HOPE dropped on Sunday, October 16, 2021 at 11am ET/8am PT on Netflix.
