Plot Synopsis
Loosely based on the classic Chinese tale "Journey to the West" and taking place in a land controlled by feudal barons, INTO THE BADLANDS is a martial arts series that tells the story of a ruthless, well-trained warrior named Sunny and a young boy named M.K. who embark on a spiritual journey across a dangerous land to find enlightenment. Centuries from now, a feudal society has emerged in the wake of civilization's destruction. This area is now called the Badlands and is uneasily divided among seven rival Barons. Each Baron enforces their iron rule with the aid of loyal armies of trained assassins known as Clippers. The most lethal of the Badlands' Clippers is Sunny -- the Regent (aka Head Clipper) and most trusted advisor of Baron Quinn. For decades, Quinn has been unchallenged as the Badlands' most powerful Baron; however, the territory's newest Baron, The Widow, has begun testing his appetite for a fight. One day, Sunny rescues M.K., a teenage boy who has survived a deadly ambush. Sunny soon comes to understand that the teen harbors a dark secret and has a hefty bounty on his head. Together, they embark on an odyssey that could mean the difference between chaos and enlightenment for everyone in the Badlands.
Season 2 of INTO THE BADLANDS premiered on Sunday, March 19, 2017 at 10:05pm ET/PT on AMC. The new season finds Sunny and M.K. separated and scattered to the wind, each imprisoned in unlikely places. While M.K. struggles to control his powers, Sunny is determined to fight his way back into the Badlands to find his family or die trying. On their journey, Clipper and Colt are assisted by mysterious, new allies whose motivations may be anything but pure. Meanwhile, The Widow continues to consolidate power against the other Barons, while a dark and mysterious threat prepares to exact revenge on them all. Alliances are struck, friendships betrayed, and by season's end, Sunny and M.K.'s lives will be forever altered with devastating consequences. In the Season 2 premiere, "Tiger Pushes Mountain," Sunny finds a new foe, as well as a new, unexpected ally. Meanwhile, M.K. learns about his gift in a mysterious place.

It is only when Henry contracts a mysterious illness that Sunny must join forces with Bajie and journey back into the Badlands, where The Widow and Baron Chau are entrenched in a drawn-out war that has destabilized the entire region. No longer supported by Tilda or Waldo, The Widow must find new allies in Lydia and in Nathaniel Moon -- the former regent who lost his hand to Sunny and Bajie in Season 2. But when a mysterious nomadic leader called Pilgrim arrives in the Badlands on a mission to restore Azra and usher in a new era of "peace," old enemies must band together to defend the Badlands. After a nine-month break, INTO THE BADLANDS returns for its final eight episodes, beginning on Sunday, March 24, 2019 at 10pm ET/PT on AMC, and then moving to its regular timeslot -- Mondays at 10pm -- the following day. As the series enters its final chapter, an imprisoned Bajie warns Sunny that Pilgrim can't be trusted. But with his son's life on the line, Sunny struggles with his decision to help Pilgrim unlock the Meridian Chamber. Meanwhile, M.K., still reeling from the revelation that Sunny killed his mother, is hell-bent on revenge. Kidnapped by The Master, the Widow is forced to confront her past. Moon meanwhile races to save Lydia from impending death after she risked her life for his on the battlefield. As the last episodes unfold long buried secrets will be revealed, new alliances will be forged, and the saga will climax in an epic battle to end all battles.
