Plot Synopsis

Using re-enactments, archival footage, and first-person interviews, ICE COLD KILLERS recounts Alaska's most notorious crimes. As America's last true frontier, Alaska is an ideal destination for people wanting to experience the intrinsic beauty of isolated nature -- but its wilderness also provides the perfect setting for keeping secrets. People go missing as if swallowed by the elements, but often there's something far more sinister to blame. On Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at 9pm ET/PT, Investigation Discovery first aired ALASKA: ICE COLD KILLERS as a one-hour special, which told the true story of Robert Hansen, a serial killer who flew women to his remote cabin where he released them into the harsh Alaskan wilderness only to hunt them down for sport. On consecutive Mondays in late March and early April 2012, ID presented two episodes of ALASKA: ICE COLD KILLERS that featured these criminals: an environmentalist who planned to blow up the Trans-Alaska Pipeline but stalked all possible witnesses with a plan to silence them beforehand; and a killer who was hunted for murdering a couple in Chulitan's woods. On Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at 9pm ET, ID aired the official series premiere -- now with the shortened title ICE COLD KILLERS -- that highlighted these criminals in Alaska: a predator responsible for bodies of multiple women in the small town of North Pole; a gunman who goes on a rampage shooting residents in the remote town of Manley Hot Springs; a man who kills his father with a machete and then starts shooting innocent people; and many more dangerous predators. Investigation Discovery aired the Season 2 premiere on Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at 8pm ET/PT, with an episode that featured a small police department in Anchorage, Alaska that was overwhelmed after a deadly night left seven people dead, including four teens. ICE COLD KILLERS returned for its third season on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at 8pm ET/PT on Investigation Discovery. In the Season 3 opener, "Lamb Among Wolves," when a beautiful model is found dead in her Washington state home, family members fear for her missing daughter. Police have no shortage of suspects -- and two sets of DNA at the scene. They must sort through twisting lies to uncover the dark truth. Season 4 of ICE COLD KILLERS premiered on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at 9pm ET/PT on Investigation Discovery. In the season opener, "Frozen in Fear," a pedestrian check turns deadly when a cop is gunned down on a midnight patrol. The attacker flees with the officer's squad car...and her weapon. The stakes are higher than ever as investigators try to capture the person who killed one of their own. Season 5 of ICE COLD KILLERS premiered on Thursday, January 5, 2017 at 9pm ET/PT on Investigation Discovery. In the season opener, "Frozen Innocence," an 11-year-old girl vanishes on a chilly winter morning in St. Louis. Days later her body is found along an icy river bank. She's been brutally murdered. It's a race against time for investigators who fear the elusive killer will strike again.
