Plot Synopsis

ICE COLD GOLD is a reality series that follows a team of eight American miners who prospect for precious metals and gems below melted ice sheets in the remotest parts of Greenland. These men leave behind their families, friends and homeland to strike it rich against all odds, while struggling to survive against harsh conditions and the unpredictable unknown. Each thinks he has what it takes to walk away with gold, rubies and sapphires before winter and large mining companies swoop in, but they find that working with each other may be the most difficult task of all. These eight miners are: Eric Drummond, the geologist, who made millions for companies, and is expected to lead the way in this new frontier with a chance to strike it rich on his own terms; Chad Watkins, a dredger and expert prospector, who is striving to keep his family afloat, while proving to his wife and son that he can make something of himself; John Self, a miner and prospector, who is struggling financially and is on this trip to fund his daughter's college education; Jesse Feldman, a hard-rock miner, who comes from a multi-generational mining family and wants to escape from his father's shadow; Josh Feldman, a hard-rock miner, who, like his brother Jesse, was born with opportunities and is now searching for his own success; Zach 'Gator' Schoose, an excavation expert, who is close friends with the Feldmans but has so much more to lose than them, because of his young family back home; Jack Duggins, the wilderness guide, who's going to keep everyone alive, but struggles working with a team after living off the grid by himself for a while; and Americo DiSantis, a driller, who's determined to prove himself, especially since he's never even camped before. Season 2 premiered on Thursday, March 6, 2014 at 10pm ET/PT on Animal Planet, shortly after an all-day (1-8pm ET/PT) marathon of encore episodes from the show's first season. In the second season, the crew of Sixty Degree Resources returned to Greenland in search of buried treasure, picking up where they left off at a huge ruby deposit worth millions of dollars.

On Thursday, March 5, 2015 at 10pm ET/PT, Animal Planet premiered the 12-episode third season of ICE COLD GOLD. In Season 3, the miners are greeted with devastating news: the government sets new restrictions and takes their 13-million-dollar ruby deposit. This major setback sends the miners into complete disarray.
