Plot Synopsis
Andrew is an uptight magazine writer who relies on Bert, an old high-school classmate, to help him update his column -- and his attitudes about life -- when he gets a new editor after the magazine is sold. When Jerry, his new and rumpled editor, asks him to drag his column into the 21st century and write about being a gentleman, Andrew turns to his friends and family to help him discover what makes a man in today's society. Personal trainer Bert has been Andrew's friend since they were teenagers; unfortunately, Bert never grew up and still has that youthful optimism and is oblivious to personal boundaries. Andrew's family is no help either. His sister Janet is an aggressive lawyer who emasculates her meek and loving husband Mike. His mother Diane still has the same WASPy overbearing maternal influence in his life.
