Plot Synopsis

HOTEL PORTOFINO is a drama series that tells the story of the Ainsworth family that has relocated from Britain to open an upscale hotel on the Italian coastline. Set in the breathtakingly beautiful resort town of Portofino, this new period drama is about personal awakening at a time of global upheaval in the traumatic aftermath of World War I and the liberating influence of Italy's enchanting culture, climate and cuisine on elite British travelers. As distinguished guests like the imperious Lady Latchmere check into the hotel, matriarch Bella Ainsworth tries to keep up with their constant demands. The sophomore season of HOTEL PORTOFINO made its U.S. debut on Sunday, October 15, 2023 at 8pm on PBS (check local listings). Season 2 begins in the summer of 1927 as Bella is still devoting her energy to Hotel Portofino. Aside from her hotel duties, Bella is concerned for her children -- Lucian, whose marriage to Rose might be facing trouble, and Alice, who needs a break from her hotel responsibilities. Bella's husband, Cecil, has not been seen since returning to England at the end of the previous summer. With Cecil's unannounced return to Portofino, the messy private lives of her children, and an imminent visit from a travel guide that could make or break the hotel's future, Bella has her work cut out to keep all the plates spinning.

Season 3 of HOTEL PORTOFINO made its U.S. debut on Sunday, July 28, 2024 at 8pm on PBS (check local listings). Bella is preparing for her father and sister's arrival but is thrown when Cecil appears requesting divorce. Over the weeks, Bella must decide her future as well as avoid fascist leader Danioni. But with the Wall Street Crash, things get worse as Bella and Cecil lose everything. A shocked Alice bumps into Carlo, who is with another woman. Constance meets charming local Vito.
