Plot Synopsis
"Hotel whisperer" Anthony Melchiorri travels across North America, injecting new life into struggling hotels that are not living up to their potential. In two weeks, Anthony secretly scouts each property, identifies its biggest problems, meets with every level of the staff and management, plans changes, manages the hotel's renovations, trains its staff, and oversees its first days of operation as a well-oiled machine. Each 60-minute episode features a single hotel, including these establishments in Season 1: Gurney's Inn (Montauk, NY); The Penguin Hotel (Miami, FL); Motel New Yorker (Miami, FL); Ocean Manor (Fort Lauderdale, FL); The Purple Orchid Resort & Spa (Livermore, CA); Hotel Corpus Christi Bayfront (Corpus Christi, TX); La Jolla Cove Suites (La Jolla, CA); and Bromley Sun Lodge (Peru, VT). Anthony started in Operations at the world-famous Plaza Hotel in New York City, and eventually became the go-to guy to help rehabilitate struggling hotels after he transformed the legendary Algonquin Hotel from an historic hotel in serious decline into a Four Star-rated Michelin Guide Hotel. Now, he runs the NY Hotel Management Company. Season 2, which premiered on Monday, December 3, 2012 at 10pm ET/PT, opened with Anthony reinvigorating Caribe Playa Beach Resort, a hotel that's only ten steps away from the beautiful tropical beaches of Puerto Rico. Season 3 premiered on Monday, August 12, 2013 at 10pm ET/PT, with the season opener featuring the Abacrombie Inn, which was once an award-winning bed and breakfast in historic Baltimore. HOTEL IMPOSSIBLE returned for its fourth season on Monday, January 27, 2014 at 10pm ET/PT, as Anthony headed to Juneau, AK, in the season opener to help resurrect the historic, 100-year-old Alaskan Hotel & Bar, which boasts a belligerent bar manager, feuding family owners, a trespassing bear and a crushed designer. Season 5 premiered on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at 9pm ET/PT on the Travel Channel. In the season opener, Anthony is in Daytona Beach, FL, to save the historic 50-room Streamline Hotel, where he tries to leverage its NASCAR connection, steer the owner in a new direction,, and derail an inexperienced general manager before the hotel crashes and burns. In subsequent episodes of Season 5, Anthony helps owners at these hotels and motels: the 85-room Autoport Motel (State College, PA); the 35-room Woodstock Lodge (Woodstock, NY); Crookston Inn (Crookston, MN); Guest House (Aiken, SC); Mountain View Lodge & Resort (Manson, WA); Vacationland Inn (Brewer, ME); Ocean Crest Resort (Moclips, WA); CitiGraden Hotel (San Francisco, CA); Missouri Flats Inn (Williston, ND); as well as hotels in Nova Scotia, Chicago, IL, and Miami, FL. Travel Channel premiered the sixth season of HOTEL IMPOSSIBLE on Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at 9pm ET/PT. For Season 6, new designers Stacey Cohen, Danielle Colding, Anitra Mecadon and Anne Rue work their magic on the hotel's physical transformation, while Anthony takes care of the rest. He gives the owners not just a physical property overhaul, he also repairs relationships, gives much-needed, yet sometimes harsh, advice and works his hardest to create a brand-new perspective for people who really need it. In the season opener, "Fix Your Kicks on Route 66," Anthony road trips along one of America's most iconic highways, historic Route 66, to help 3 properties. He visits an outdated motel, a former bordello that's a restored inn, a struggling RV park and various roadside attractions. In subsequent episodes, Anthony transforms these hotels: the 40-room Country Barn Motel in NH; the 350-room Anice Inn & Suites in Orlando, FL; Stratford Court Hotel in Utah; the Simmons Motel on Chocolate Avenue in Hershey, PA; the 55-room Waldorf Niagara Hotel in Niagara Falls, NY; the 48-room Las Olas Resort in Panama; the 120-room Brookside Resort in Gatlinburg, TN; and more. Season 7 of HOTEL IMPOSSIBLE premiered on Monday, April 18, 2016 at 10pm ET/PT on Travel Channel. In the season opener, "Hostel Takeover," Anthony deals with ugly grime and safety issues at a Texas hotel turned hostel. In subsequent episodes of the seventh season, Anthony help a visually impaired owner see the path to success in Florida; fixes a feuding family and clashing contractors in Branson, Missouri; visits Bossier City, Louisiana, to help hotel staff with abusive owners; and more. Season 8 of HOTEL IMPOSSIBLE premiered on Monday, October 24, 2016 at 10pm ET/PT on Travel Channel. In the new season, Melchiorri works his magic on not just the physical hotel transformations, he also repairs relationships, gives the necessary tools and works his hardest to create a brand new perspective for people who really need it -- whether he's at Hooligan's Lodge in Soldotna in the Alaskan wilderness, a treehouse lodge in Sturgis, or even a sleep-in "safari" filled with deadly animals at the Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge in Arkansas. In the season opener, "Full Throttle in Sturgis," Melchiorri is on a mission to save three struggling hotels near Sturgis, South Dakota. Will he have time to fix all the issues at these properties before hundreds of thousands of bikers come rolling into town? Additional locations featured this season include: Clegg's Hotel (Fire Island, NY); a struggling hotel in Albany, NY; Bayfield, WI; Eureka Springs, AR; North Wildwood, NJ; and Ocean Beach, NY.
