Plot Synopsis

Initially hosted by Mike Finnegan and David Freiburger, each half-hour episode of HOT ROD GARAGE includes a variety of segments featuring technical tips, step-by-step how-tos, product evaluations, and question-and-answer sessions. The vehicle buildups include cars from HOT ROD, from the Roadkill series, and from throughout the performance-car industry. HOT ROD GARAGE, presented by Lincoln Technical Institute, premiered on YouTube.com/MotorTrend on "Tech Thursdays" throughout 2014. The premiere took place on May 22, 2014, with subsequent 2014 airings scheduled to debut as follows: June 19, July 17, August 7, September 4, October 2, October 30, November 27, and December 18, 2014.

After this initial run, Tony Angelo and Lucky Costa took over hosting duties from the second season onward.

On Friday, July 6, 2018 at 9pm ET/PT, HOT ROD GARAGE had its linear television debut, as Velocity premiered an episode from the show's fourth season, "Tire Killer! '66 Fury Wagon! Big Block Stroker Wagon Gets Big Power!" The guys decide to upgrade all the necessary things to make the 1966 Fury Wagon, which houses a 512ci V-8, safe.

The sixth season of HOT ROD GARAGE premiered on MotorTrend Network on Friday, March 22, 2019 at 9pm ET/PT. In the season opener, "2005 Dodge Magnum Dad-Rod Build- Perfect for Hauling Kids and Hauling Ass!," Tony Angelo and Lucky Costa turn a 2005 Dodge Magnum into a Dad-Rod, the ultimate ride for a new father.

Host Alex Taylor replaced Tony Angelo beginning in Season 10, which debuted on Monday, September 5, 2022. In the season opener, "Hunting 9s," returning host Lucky and new host Alex, who comes from a long history of fast cars, sets their sights on pushing for 10s for 10K Bonemaro build into some 9-second timeslip territory. A solid plan of weight loss, a transbrake, and a booster seat should all add up to the fastest pass in Bonemaro's history.

Season 11 of HOT ROD GARAGE debuted on Friday, September 8, 2023 on MotorTrend+ in the morning and later that evening at 9pm ET/PT on MotorTrend Network. In the season opener, "Typhoon Rollin' In," HRG is back and so is the 80/90s Super-Truck, the granddaddy of go-fast SUVs, the '92 Typhoon!! Rod knock will be a thing of the past as Alex and Lucky refresh the drivetrain and pit it head to head against today's top-of-the-line, ultra-lux, supercharged people-mover.
