Plot Synopsis

Inspired by the life of writer and executive producer Michael Colton, HOME ECONOMICS is a half-hour comedy series that takes a look at the heartwarming yet super uncomfortable and sometimes frustrating relationship among three adult siblings: one in the 1% (youngest sibling Connor, who runs his own private equity firm); one middle-class (middle sibling Tom, who is a struggling author); and one barely holding on (oldest sibling Sarah, who is a child therapist).

The sophomore season of HOME ECONOMICS premiered on Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at 9:30pm ET/PT on ABC. In the season opener, "49ers Foam Finger, $7," Connor invites the Hayworth clan to a San Francisco 49ers game as he tries to close his latest business deal. Desperately trying to prove that he knows the game, Tom gets a once-in-a-lifetime chance to showcase his football skills in front of the entire crowd of 49ers Faithful at Levi's Stadium. Meanwhile, Denise tries to get Sarah to come to terms with Shamiah's new interest in cheerleading. After a one-month break, HOME ECONOMICS returned with new episodes on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at 9:30pm ET/PT on ABC. In the winter premiere, "Men's Water-Resistant Watch, $289," Tom and Marina must make a difficult choice after they uncover a bombshell revelation about Sofia Salazar. Meanwhile, Connor and JoJo's secret relationship is complicated by Denise and Sarah's matchmaking efforts. Guest stars: Tetona Jackson as JoJo and Roselyn Sanchez as Sofia Salazar.

Season 3 of HOME ECONOMICS premiered on Wednesday, September 21, 2022 at 9:30pm ET/PT on ABC. This season, the family dynamics are even more complicated now that Connor owns Tom's publishing company, Sarah and Denise have to move into Connor's house, and a family secret is blown wide open. In the season opener, "Mickey Ears, $19.99," Tom finds out that Connor is his new boss, which threatens to ruin Marina's perfectly planned trip to the Happiest Place on Earth: Disneyland Resort in California. After a four-week break, HOME ECONOMICS returned with new episodes on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at 9:30pm ET/PT on ABC. In the winter premiere, "Gallon of Milk, $4.35," after Marina begins working with a hunky new contractor, Tom's envy causes him to overcompensate. Meanwhile, Connor involves Denise in his scheme to impress a new woman.

On Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at 9:30pm ET/PT, ABC premiered "Emergency Preparedness Kit, $129.99," the Season 3 finale of HOME ECONOMICS. A natural disaster strikes, trapping the family under one roof and without power. As their electronic battery lives are depleted, the Hayworths are left with nothing to do but examine their own lives. Written by Tucker Cawley and directed by Victor Nelli.
