Plot Synopsis

HOLMES FAMILY RESCUE is a one-hour reality series that follows contractor Mike Holmes, as he teams up with his son and daughter -- home renovation experts Michael Holmes, Jr. and Sherry Holmes -- to rescue more clients who are struggling with botched construction jobs. During this series, Mike, Michael and Sherry expose shoddy renovation work and then help their clients fix the problem. In the series opener, "Beware of the Demon Door," the Holmes family meet a couple with young kids whose contractor over-promised his skills and left them with an unlivable basement riddled with structural problems. Mike, Michael and Sherry completely overhaul the unfinished space, providing them with a safe, cozy rec room with plenty of toy storage, home office, laundry room and modern bathroom. As the season continues, Mike and his kids repair more construction and safety issues -- including warped ceilings and floors, dangerous electrical and plumbing, and extensive water damage -- for families who need them.

On Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at Noon ET/PT, HGTV premiered "The Broken House," a sneak peek at a Season 2 episode of HOLMES FAMILY RESCUE. Mike, Sherry, and Michael step in to help homeowners after their plans for an addition resulted in a contractor leaving them with an unlivable house.

Season 2 of HOLMES FAMILY RESCUE debuted on Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at 9pm ET/PT on HGTV. In the Season 2 opener, "The Broken House," Mike, Michael and Sherry meet a family whose plans for a kitchen and basement addition resulted in a year of terrible workmanship by a contractor who left them with an unlivable house. To deliver a beautiful and safe home, they'll first contend with electrical hazards, crumbling brick and structural issues. Another couple will call on Mike and his kids to install a backyard pool after a contractor took their money but completed no work. During future episodes, the Holmes family will right more wrongs, including updating inferior plumbing, eradicating dangerous mold and bringing unsafe spaces up to code for people in need.
