Plot Synopsis

Hosted and narrated by Laurence Fishburne, HISTORY'S GREATEST MYSTERIES features a different mystery each week, showcasing new evidence and perspectives -- including never-before-released documents to the public, personal diaries and DNA evidence -- to unearth new facts and information about these infamous and enigmatic chapters in history. Season 1 stories include: "The Final Hunt For D.B. Cooper"; "Titanic's Lost Evidence"; "Endurance: The Hunt For Shackleton's Ice Ship"; "The Escape of John Wilkes Booth"; and the three-parter "Roswell: First Witness."

The sophomore season of HISTORY'S GREATEST MYSTERIES premiered on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 from 8-10pm ET/PT on History Channel, immediately following an eight-hour marathon (Noon-8pm) of encore episodes. Season 2 stories include: "Expedition Bermuda Triangle"; "Hunting Hitler's U-Boats"; "The Death of Bruce Lee"; "Houdini's Lost Diaries"; and more.

The 13-episode third season of HISTORY'S GREATEST MYSTERIES debuted on Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at 10:35pm ET/PT on History Channel, and then the series moved to its regular timeslot -- Mondays at 9pm -- the following week. NOTE: "Shackleton's Endurance: The Lost Ice Ship Found" is a 90-minute special episode takes a definitive look at Sir Ernest Shackleton's historic and ill-fated 1914 Antarctic expedition resulting in the loss of his highly revered ship, Endurance, as well as maritime archaeologists' relentless mission to find this holy grail of shipwrecks. This new 90-minute special is a continuation of the previously aired "Endurance: The Hunt for Shackleton's Ice Ship" which chronicled the first, ground-breaking expedition to locate the lost ship by the same leadership team on the same vessel in 2019.

HISTORY'S GREATEST MYSTERIES returned for its fourth season on Monday, January 30, 2023 at 9pm ET/PT on History Channel with a season opener titled "The Loch Ness Monster." Despite centuries of sightings and searches, one of the most infamous deep-sea monsters remains unidentified. As evidence continues to mount, the mystery endures: does the Loch Ness Monster really exist? And if so, what could it be? Season 5 of HISTORY'S GREATEST MYSTERIES debuted on Monday, January 29, 2024 at 9pm ET/PT on History Channel. In the season opener, "Montezuma's Lost Treasure," an Aztec king's glittering treasure vanishes into thin air, inspiring a 500-year search that spans continents. One of the greatest warriors of all-time amassed a vast horde believed to be worth more than $3 billion today, but its whereabouts remains a mystery. What really happened to Montezuma's lost treasure? After a 2.5-month break, HISTORY'S GREATEST MYSTERIES returned with new episodes, beginning Monday, June 3, 2024 at 9pm ET/PT on History Channel, as the series continues to examine the top theories surrounding the world's most enigmatic unsolved mysteries. In the mid-season premiere, "Who Killed King Tut?," the death of one of history's most enigmatic rulers -- Egypt's King Tutankhamun -- remains shrouded in mystery 3300 years later. No one knows for sure what ended the young pharaoh's life, but scientific advancements may be getting us closer to the answer. Who, or what, killed King Tut?
