Plot Synopsis

Academics and appraisers help people solve mysteries behind family heirlooms, artifacts, or old houses. In Season 10, this series reveals the truth about: three items that may be critically important pieces of rock 'n' roll history; a set of Civil War-era pistols; Clint Black's book of posters; the original Hollywood sign; a book of liquor recipes; Woolworth signs; and many other collectibles that may hold historical significance. The History Detectives are: Wes Cowan, the President and Principal Auctioneer of Cowan's Auctions in Cincinnati, OH and former Curator of Archaeology at the Cincinnati Museum of Natural History, who is an internationally recognized expert in historic Americana and author of monthly antiques columns for the "Cincinnati Enquirer," "Antique Week," "Collectors News" and the "SE Antiquing Journal"; Elyse Luray, an appraiser and historian in popular culture, who was a Christie's auction house appraiser and auctioneer for more than a decade, where, as vice president of the popular arts department, she launched new markets in Western memorabilia, arms and armor, and Native-American art; Gwendolyn Wright, Professor of architecture, planning and preservation and Professor of history at Columbia University, who is the author of six books and has published more than 40 articles and acclaimed essays and reviews for national magazines and journals, including "The New York Times," "Washington Post," "The Journal of American History" and "Harvard Design Magazine"; Tukufu Zuberi, the Lasry Family Professor of Race Relations and a professor of sociology at the University of Pennsylvania, who is dedicated to bringing a fresh view of culture and society to the public and is most recognized for his research of African and American society; and the team's newest member, Eduardo Pagan, the Bob Stump Endowed Professor of History at Arizona State University, who is respected for his expertise in the twentieth century American Southwest and is the author of two historical coffee table books: "Historic Photos of Phoenix" and "Remembering Phoenix."
