Plot Synopsis

Since the program was established in 1987 by the White House to commemorate the creation of Hispanic Heritage Month in the United States, THE HISPANIC HERITAGE AWARDS -- considered among the highest honors for Latinos by Latinos -- have annually honored Latino leaders in education, sports, leadership, STEM, entertainment, service, and philanthropy.

On Friday, September 27, 2024 at 10pm (check local listings), PBS broadcast the 37th annual HISPANIC HERITAGE AWARDS as a one-hour special for the ceremony that was held at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts' Opera House on Thursday, September 5, 2024. This year's event is hosted by Annie Gonzalez, with special music performances from honorees Los Angeles Azules and additional artists including Morat, Nathy Peluso, Cimafunk, and Ximena Sarinana. also include: John Leguizamo, Emilio Estefan Jr., Pati Jinich, Nava Mau, Lisa Vidal, Roberto Clemente Jr. & Luis Clemente, Lisa Lisa, and more. The 2024 honorees are: designer Carolina Herrera (Fashion), Beautyblender creator Rea Ann Silva (Entrepreneurship), NBA Star Carmelo Anthony (Sports), legendary Cumbia Band Los Angeles Azules (Arts), First-Posthumous Honoree Roberto Clemente, and writer, director, and comedian Julio Torres (Vision).
