Plot Synopsis

Each year, HGTV DREAM HOME GIVEAWAY reveals the winner of HGTV's annual Dream Home sweepstakes. For the 2002 event, HGTV teamed up with CBS's THE EARLY SHOW to announce the winner on live television for the first time ever, which aired on Thursday, April 11 from the police headquarters in Midland, TX, where the winner worked. In 2004, HGTV worked with ENTERTAINMENT TONIGHT to surprise that year's winner, which ET showed on Wednesday, May 19, 2004 -- five nights after surprising the winner and delayed one day because of Tony Randall's death. Past winners include: Michele Rambo (1997); Tina Carlson (1998); Belinda Brown (1999); Mary Barker (2000); Kathy Headrick (2001), who won a classic New England, shingle-style cottage overlooking the historic Penobscot Bay in Camden, ME; Milton O'Bryant (2002), who won a 2,800-square-foot custom-built house in Sherwood, MD; John Groszkiewicz (2003), who won a 13-room house with a private boat dock on East Bay in Mexico Beach, FL; Kathi Nakao (2004), who won a fully-furnished, 3,500-square-foot dream home in St. Mary's, GA; Don Cruz (2005), who won 5,000 square feet of living area and a dockside guest house overlooking Lake Tyler in Tyler, TX; Donald Cook (2006), who won a 5,700-square-foot cedar and stone house in Lake Lure, NC; Bob O'Neill (2007), who won a 5,000-square-foot ski-in/ski-out retreat in Winter Park, CO; Stephanie Dee (2008), who won a fully-furnished, three-story, beachfront estate in Islamorada, FL, in the Florida Keys; Cheryl Smith (2009), who won a Victorian farmhouse style home in Sonoma, CA; Sandra Gilson (2010), who won a 4,000-square-foot home in Sandia Park, NM; Eric Makstenieks (2011), who won a 3,400-square-foot Alpine retreat in Stowe, VT; Vicki Naggy (2012), who won a nearly 4,000-square-foot home located on the banks of the Provo River in Park City, UT; Carole Simpson (2013), who won a three-bedroom, 3,000-square-foot home on Kiawah Island in South Carolina; Laura Martin (2014), who won a 3,200-square-foot vacation getaway in Truckee, CA.

HGTV DREAM HOME GIVEAWAY 2015, a 30-minute program, premiered on Friday, May 29, 2015 at 1pm ET/PT, with host John Gidding giving one lucky viewer (Kathy O'Dell of Huntsville, AL) the news she'd won a prize package worth over $2 million, including the HGTV Dream Home 2015, a 2015 GMC Acadia Denali, and $250,000 cash. The 2015 HGTV Dream Home, a new Cape Cod-style getaway located on the island of Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts, is a 3,200-square-foot, three-bedroom, three-and-a-half bath home.
