Plot Synopsis
HELP DESK is a reality series that follows host Gotham Chopra, the son of Deepak Chopra, as he takes to the streets to offer everyday people the opportunity to speak with iconic figures who dispense spiritual advice and answer questions at help desks in big cities. Each 30-minute episode documents a different person in a different city, including: Deepak in Manhattan's Madison Square Park; Reverend Ed Bacon in Venice Beach, CA; Deepak in Los Angeles, answering questions concerning loss, emotional eating and fear; and Iyanla Vanzant in Washington, D.C., talking to people about romance, stress and family. Subsequent episodes also feature these additional spiritual advisers: Michael Bernard Beckwith, Agape International Spiritual Center's founder and new thought minister; Devon Franklin, a movie producer and Seventh Day Adventist preacher; Carolyn Myss, internationally renowned speaker and best-selling author of "Sacred Contracts"; Panache Desai, contemporary thought leader and author of "Discovering Your Soul Signature"; Cheryl Strayed, best-selling author of "Wild"; Gary Zukav, author New York Times best-seller "Seat of the Soul"; Rob Bell, a progressive pastor and New York Times best-selling author of "Love Wins"; and more. OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network first broadcast HELP DESK on Sunday, September 22, 2013 at Noon ET/PT, airing two back-to-back episodes (Deepak in Manhattan & Rev. Ed in Venice Beach), almost one year before the official series premiere on Sunday, September 7, 2014 at Noon ET/PT.
