Plot Synopsis

HEAVY RESCUE: 401 is a one-hour reality series that follows Canadian government agencies, as they work together to keep traffic flowing on Ontario's mega-highways when ice, snow and big-rig accidents threaten to close them down. It's winter on the continent's busiest highway and the crews that battle wrecks and rollovers to keep the roads safe are back in action. As winter rages, multiple pileups paralyze the 401 -- pushing first responders, heavy rescue crews, and maintenance teams to their limits. Because closure is not an option.

Season 2 of HEAVY RESCUE: 401 had its U.S. premiere on Friday, June 22, 2018 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT, as Netflix released the entire 10-episode second season. In the season opener, "It Only Takes a Second," a truck's wreckage is wedged into an overpass. A semi's trailer buckles down the middle. A rescue operation is a big test for a young worker. Then, in the second episode, "This Is Chaos," a 100-car pileup strands families and puts the pressure on Steve and Sonny. The police help with a medical mission. Kevin deals with a jackknife.

On Sunday, February 10, 2019 from 9-11pm ET, The Weather Channel aired the U.S. premiere of the third season of HEAVY RESCUE: 401, debuting back-to-back new episodes: "It's Now or Never and Pray for the Best" (9pm): Sonny deals with a jackknife during the first winter storm; John deals with a messy wreck under an overpass. "One Twisted Mess" (10pm): Kevin orchestrates a team of heavy operators during a highway cleanup job; Gary's crew is sent on a marathon recovery.

Weather Channel aired the U.S. premiere of HEAVY RESCUE: 401's fourth season on Sunday, February 9, 2020 from 9-11pm ET/PT, as the cable network debuted back-to-back episodes:

"We're Jumping In" (9pm): After three decades on the highway, a major change forces Eric Godard to adapt to a new crew on a tough rollover; a vicious pre-winter storm pushes Sonny into urgent on-the-job training; a jet fuel spill shuts down the entire 401.

"Take a Deep Breath" (10pm): When a tanker bursts open east of Toronto, a young operator faces a toxic mess; Gary reacts fast when he spots a dangerous mistake on the road; a rookie takes the controls for his first heavy job.
