Plot Synopsis

Using first-person accounts, re-enactments, and commentary from paranormal investigators, priests, shamans, and psychic mediums, A HAUNTING tells tales of families traumatized by forces unknown, including exorcisms, possessions, and hauntings. From children to pets and from atheists to the faithful, these are true stories of unrelenting terror that knows no bounds -- sometimes these paranormal figures leave impressions so intense they leave people traumatized for the rest of their lives. Each 60-minute episode reveals the supernatural experiences of one family, including these people in Season 5: Betty Johnson and her family, who faced supernatural threats and unexpected financial distress in their new residence in rural Michigan, but, even after moving, her oldest child experienced bloody visions and was physically attacked; Kathie Sheats exorcised her own demon after a priest, a psychic, and a paranormal investigator failed to rid her and her home of an evil presence; and Connecticut child safety specialist Bob Baker devoted his life to protecting children from natural and supernatural harm, but smoked out a demon by himself to reclaim his mother's home and his own life; and many more tales of real-life terror. In October 2012, after being off the air and in limbo for nearly five years, A HAUNTING returned from the dead for a new season on a new network, Destination America.

On Sunday, September 29, 2013 at 10pm ET/PT, Destination America showed the Season 6 premiere of A HAUNTING as part of an all-day marathon (6am-6am ET/PT). The sixth season opener features the story of Stephanie Winters, who had a demonic spirit terrorizing her when a friend stole a piece of her hair and threatened to put a spell on her after she rejected his advances.

Immediately following an eight-hour marathon (2-10pm ET/PT), A HAUNTING returned for its seventh season on Friday, August 1, 2014 at 10pm ET/PT on Destination America. In the Season 7 premiere, two different entities are roaming the property of a 200-year-old farmhouse, terrorizing the family living there -- but they are determined to stay in the home, escalating the paranormal activity to threatening heights.

Season 8 of A HAUNTING premiered on Sunday, January 3, 2016 at 10pm ET/PT on Destination America, immediately following an all-day marathon (11am-10pm) of encore episodes. This season, A HAUNTING gives a fresh look and feel to dramatic recreations of some of the scariest stories known to man, leaving viewers with a lingering sense that life after death is much more powerful than anyone could possibly imagine. In the season opener, "Ghost Inferno," a young family senses a presence in their home. At first they suspect a prowler until they realize the house is haunted by a ghost who tragically died on the property. When things turn violent, will the family reclaim their home before it's too late? A HAUNTING returned with all-new episodes on Friday, October 21, 2016 at 9pm ET/PT on TLC, featuring some of the scariest stories of supernatural activity. In the season opener, "Demon's Lair," a family believes they have a harmless ghost in their home until it begins to threaten the children. Unwilling to let evil win, the family turns to the Catholic Church to help drive a demon from the home.

A new season of A HAUNTING premiered on Monday, October 9, 2017 at 10pm ET/PT on Destination America, immediately following a nine-hour marathon (1-10pm) of encore episodes. In the season opener, "Untouchable," paranormal events begin happening in Linda Dravis' home after she returns from an overseas trip. Terrified to remain in the house, Linda and her daughter Kara turn to a clairvoyant in hope that she can reveal the truth of what they are experiencing and find a resolution to the haunting.

For its tenth season A HAUNTING moved to Travel Channel. Season 10 premiered on Monday, May 27, 2019 at 10pm ET/PT, immediately following a nine-hour marathon (1-10pm) of encore episodes. In the season opener, "Demon Whispers," when a man's beloved father dies, he falls into a deep depression that renders him vulnerable to an unearthly evil who will stop at nothing to make him a pawn in its relentless thirst for misery and murder.

Season 11 of A HAUNTING debuted on Friday, December 31, 2021 at 10pm ET/PT on Travel Channel. In the season opener, "Bottled Spirits," a chef and his wife find the perfect location for their restaurant in a sleepy waterfront town. But the spirits haunting the Victorian mansion have other plans. Soon, eerie and unexplained events threaten to force the couple out of their business.
