Plot Synopsis

Executive produced by series star Jane Seymour, HARRY WILD is an Irish mystery series that centers on Harriet "Harry" Wild, a retiring university literature professor, who is finding herself at one of life's crossroads. Jolted from a mugging, she reluctantly agrees to recover in the home of her son, Charlie, a senior police detective. Harry starts to interfere in a particularly baffling murder case Charlie is investigating when she notices the murder shares striking similarities to an obscure Elizabethan play. When her path crosses that of her mugger, Fergus Reid, Harry sees great potential in the troubled teen and, instead of turning him in, enlists him as her sidekick. Following her successful, albeit ill-advised, involvement in the case, Harry discovers a new lust for life. She and Fergus quickly find new mysteries, including ones that involve a fledgling serial killer with a Dostoevsky fixation, gamblers running snuff games, and a wealthy Dublin matriarch strangled during a video call. Harry's new passion brings her into direct conflict with Charlie, who could really do without his mother causing trouble at work. HARRY WILD premiered on Monday, April 4, 2022 on Acorn TV with the first two episodes with a new episode dropping each Monday:

"When Harry Met Fergus" (Monday, April 4, 2022): Former literature professor Harriet "Harry" Wild is trying to adjust to retirement when she's injured in a mugging. While recovering at the home of her son, senior detective Charlie, Harry looks at his files and realizes his latest investigation bears similarities to an obscure Elizabethan play. After Charlie dismisses her insights, she decides to find the killer-with aid from a surprising source.

"Samurai Plague Doctors Kill for Kicks" (Monday, April 4, 2022): Due to their new notoriety, Harry and Fergus are approached by a woman desperate to find out how her husband died. Although reluctant to get involved, Harry's interest is soon piqued. When she and Fergus uncover a deadly gambling operation, Harry turns over the evidence to Charlie, vowing to stay out of it. Unfortunately, the killers have other ideas.

"Mincemeat" (Monday, April 11, 2022): When a body is pulled out of the river near Harry's local pub, something about the dead man feels familiar to Harry. When she remembers how she knows him, she realizes she's stumbled onto the ultimate misdirect. Harry and Fergus go undercover at the house of the "grieving widow," a Polish restaurant, a girls' boarding school (with the admirable assistance of Harry's teenage granddaughter, Lola), and a greyhound racetrack to uncover the sinister truth. Along the way, Harry starts to grow closer to Ray, Charlie's boss and mentor. This will get messy.

"An Unhappy Happy Is a Dangerous Thing" (Monday, April 11, 2022): Harry and Fergus agree to help local loan shark, Happy, find out who murdered his employee in return for Happy ripping up Fergus' father's sizeable debt. Seeing links between the killing and Dostoevsky's Crime and Punishment brings Harry to the attention of the fledgling serial killer, Billy Lund. A very disturbed young man, Billy becomes fixated on Harry, seeing her as his natural nemesis, but when Harry gets too close for Billy's liking, he turns the tables on her. Harry and Fergus have to race against the clock to decipher Billy's warped mind and save the life of someone Harry loves.

"A Corpse in My Soup" (Monday, April 18, 2022): stuffy dinner party in the home of one of Harry's former colleagues, Lawrence Cavendish, turns deadly when a vomiting bug sweeps through the guests, bar one: Harry. Further investigation uncovers the cause of the sickness is the corpse of Cavendish's wife in the house's well. With Charlie on holiday, the investigation is led by his sergeant, Vicky Boyle. Too eager to prove herself, Vicky makes some rash choices and when the evidence starts to point to Harry as the culprit, Vicky unwisely arrests her. It is left to Fergus, in the midst of his exams, to prove Harry's innocence.

"Best Laid Schemes" (Monday, April 18, 2022): A violent storm traps Harry, Fergus and Lola in the local pub. Cut off from the outside world by flooded roads and downed phone masts, events take a dangerous turn when they discover a kidnap victim in the boot of a car in the pub's car park. Freeing the man, they realize the kidnapper must be one of the handful of strangers trapped in the pub with them. Harry, Fergus and Lola, along with the pub's landlady and resident dodgy bloke, Welsh Glenn, have to work together to uncover the identity of the kidnapper. But kidnapping soon turns to murder.

"The Mystery of Granny Susan's Fun Time Wig" (Monday, April 25, 2022): When the matriarch of a wealthy Dublin family is strangled to death during a video call in front of her horrified relatives, the dead woman's daughter employs the services of the newly formed Wild/Reid Detective Agency. The agency being Fergus' brainchild, Harry is as surprised as anyone to discover it exists but agrees to indulge Fergus' ingenuity. It quickly becomes apparent that the motive for the murder was the sizeable inheritance but as everyone who stands to benefit was on the video call at the time of the killing how could one of them have been the killer?

"No One Here Gets Out Alive" (Monday, April 25, 2022): Zoe McCann is a damaged young woman, a recovering addict fighting each day to slay her demons. But when Zoe is abducted only to wake up in a forest wearing a vintage ballgown, her sanity and resolve are pushed to their limit. Terrified that her unknown abductor will come back for her, her path leads to Harry and Fergus.

HARRY WILD returned for its second season on Monday, October 9, 2023 on Acorn TV, which released the first two episodes. A new installment drops weekly through November 6. The new season continues to follow former literature professor Harry Wild, who has found an unusual pastime in retirement: solving crimes along with her young partner in PI work, Fergus Reid. Together the wise-cracking pair investigate cases ranging from missing persons to murders, much to the annoyance of Harry's son, Charlie, who's a detective in the Dublin Garda. When Fergus's mother suddenly turns up, years after abandoning her family, they have a deeply personal mystery to solve: What are her intentions? And can he trust her? The six Season 2 episodes include:

"Silence Dogood Did Bad" (Monday, October 9, 2023): After Ray Tiernan, Harry's ex and Charlie's mentor, is murdered while running a secret investigation, Harry and Fergus will stop at nothing to unmask the killer.

"The Village Has Eyes" (Monday, October 9, 2023): Harry and Fergus take on the case of a woman who has vanished from an Irish village that has a history of devil worship and sacrifice. Did the missing woman stumble onto something that led to her death? Or was she murdered by somebody closer to home?

"A Botox a Day Keeps the Mortician in Pay" (Monday, October 16, 2023): The maid of honor is poisoned at a bachelorette party, even though others were sharing the same bottle of champagne. Harry and Fergus work to figure out how she was poisoned, but since everyone disliked her, narrowing down her killer is much harder.

"Orla Wild's Wicked Wicked Ways" (Monday, October 23, 2023): A face from Orla's past begs for her assistance: Ben Finnegan is on the run from the police, framed for murder, and being hunted by a killer with a crossbow. The only person Orla can turn to is the last one she ever wants to ask for help -- Harry.

"Professor Wild in the Library with the Revolver" (Monday, October 30, 2023): Harry, Fergus, and Lola are invited to a murder-mystery party in a hotel on a secluded island. The fun quickly turns deadly as they realize a real murderer lurks among them, willing to kill everyone present.

"He Could've Been a Contender Until They Chopped His Arms Off" (Monday, November 6, 2023): The popular owner of Fergus's boxing gym is found murdered in the Dublin Mountains. The gym was in debt, and the dead man had trouble with both his future wife and his ex-wife. Fergus asks Harry to help him find the killer.

The six-episode third season of HARRY WILD debuts on Monday, May 13, 2024 on Acorn TV in the morning, with a co-premiere in the evening on AMC Networks' linear platform, BBC America. Meanwhile, with the agency still as busy as ever, Harry and Fergus have to find a way to balance work and life as Fergus plans to contest Paula's custody claim to his sister.

"I am thrilled for another mystery-packed season of Harry Wild and can't wait for our fans to see what investigations Harry and Fergus encounter in Season 3 on Acorn TV," says Seymour. "It has been such a joy playing this multi-faceted character and returning to Ireland again to work with this talented cast and crew was fantastic."

Season 3 picks up where Season 2 left off with Fergus, guided by Harry, planning to contest Paula's custody claim to Liberty. But it is not plain sailing and there are some surprises in store along the way. The agency is still as busy as ever and Harry and Fergus have to find a way to balance work and life.
