Plot Synopsis
Based on the video game franchise of the same name, HALO is a live-action series that weaves action and adventure with an imagined vision of the future: an epic 26th-century conflict between humanity and an alien threat known as the Covenant. Dr. Halsey is the brilliant, conflicted and inscrutable creator of the Spartan super, including Spartan-117, the Master Chief. They're joined by Cortana, the most advanced AI in human history -- and potentially the key to the survival of the human race.
HALO premiered on Thursday, March 24, 2022 on Paramount+ with a single episode. A new installment then debuted each Thursday through May 19. In the year 2552, humans on the planet Madrigal have been fighting for independence from Earth, but a fatal encounter with the Alien Covenant complicates things. Master Chief John 117 and his super-soldier "Spartans" join the fight. After the battle, Master Chief heads to his home planet of Reach with a Madrigal survivor and a mysterious object he discovered on the planet. But a controversial order has John questioning his mission, and himself. HALO made its linear television debut with back-to-back episodes on Monday, January 8, 2024 from 8-10pm ET/PT on Paramount+ with Showtime, the same day the cable channel Showtime was rebranded. Double episodes aired weekly.
The sophomore season of HALO dropped on Thursday, February 8, 2024 with two new episodes on Paramount+. A new installment debuted each Thursday through March 21. In Season 2, Master Chief John-117 leads his team of elite Spartans against the alien threat known as the Covenant. In the wake of a shocking event on a desolate planet, John cannot shake the feeling that his war is about to change and risks everything to prove what no one else will believe -- that the Covenant are preparing to attack humanity's greatest stronghold. With the galaxy on the brink, John embarks on a journey to find the key to humankind's salvation, or its extinction -- the Halo.
