Plot Synopsis

Ellie and Gwen Goode are sisters who inherit a funeral home from their grandfather in a small New Zealand town. Unsure what to do with the funeral home -- or the oddball staff that keep the place running -- Ellie and Gwen are thrust into a world of embalming, emceeing, and embarrassment. Recently fired from her teaching career, Ellie starts to warm to the job, but all Gwen wants to do is go DJ in Bali. By staring death in the face every day, Ellie and Gwen begin to confront the realities of their own life, and what they want to make of it. It turns out that helping families cope with loss can be a heartwarming -- and sometimes hilarious -- opportunity. GOOD GRIEF made its U.S. debut on Thursday, September 30, 2021, as SundanceNow released the entire six-episode first season. Four days later -- on Monday, October 4, 2021 at 11:59pm ET/PT -- GOOD GRIEF made its linear television debut in the United States on SundanceTV.

The entire six-episode second season made its U.S. debut on Thursday, August 4, 2022 on SundanceNow. In the season opener, "Don't Worry, Be Happy," Ellie's attempt to rebrand herself and Loving Tributes receives some pushback from new co-owner Dean. Two weeks later, the series made is linear TV debut in the U.S. on Wednesday, August 17, 2022 at 11:59pm ET/PT on IFC, which debuted back-to-back episodes.
