Plot Synopsis

Hosted by Tommy Maitland and executive produced by actor/comedian Will Arnett, THE GONG SHOW celebrates unusually talented and unique performers as a revolving panel of celebrity judges praise, critique and gong contestants. Performers, such as contortionists, singers, magicians, dancers, comedians, painters and people who work with scary bugs, are just some of the dozens and dozens of acts that are set to impress the panel of three celebrity judges. If any of the judges deem an act to be less than worthy of a score, they can pick up a mallet and hit the giant gong that is hanging behind them and end the underwhelming performance. But if the judges are happy with the act, they let it play out until the end and present their scores numerically from 0 through 10. Just liek the original series, it's not uncommon for fights to break out amongst the judges when one of them wants to gong an act, while the others want to let them play on. At the end of each show, the winning performer or act with the highest judges' scores will receive a fabulous THE GONG SHOW trophy and a check for $2,000 and 17 cents. Amongst the celebrity judges confirmed are: Will Arnett, Ken Jeong & Zach Galifianakis (series premiere); Fred Armisen, Elizabeth Banks & Will Forte; Dana Carvey, Tracee Ellis Ross & Anthony Anderson; Alison Brie, Andy Samberg, Joel McHale, Dana Carvey, Jack Black and more. Tommy Maitland is a fictional character portrayed by Mike Myers. On Thursday, June 21, 2018 at 8pm ET/PT, ABC premiered the second season of THE GONG SHOW. In Season 2, Mike Myers returns as the host, British comedic legend Tommy Maitland. Music is provided by the house band Wilder Zoby and the Gong Show Orchestra. Returning to helm the gong from last season include executive producer Will Arnett, Dana Carvey, Ken Jeong and Rob Riggle; and making their judging debut this season are Alyson Hannigan, Jimmy Kimmel, Brad Paisley, Jason Sudeikis, and more. In the season opener, celebrity judges Fred Armisen, Will Arnett and Rita Wilson are set to praise, critique and gong unusually talented and unique performers.

On Thursday, August 30, 2018 at 8pm ET/PT, ABC premiered the Season 2 finale of THE GONG SHOW, with celebrity judges Ken Jeong, Chelsea Peretti, and Adam Devine. Acts include a wind-blown opera singer, a twisted contortionist with a sweet tooth, a knife-juggling unicyclist, hoverboard-riding musicians, and much more.
