Plot Synopsis

Each year since 2012, the GLOBAL SPIN AWARDS, created by Bad Boy Records Executive Shawn Prez, have honored the world's best DJs for their contribution to the culture of music and entertainment across all genres -- past, present and future. From the influential DJ pioneers and innovators to the trendsetters and entrepreneurs, elite DJs across the globe are recognized, amongst their peers and other industry professionals for their contribution to the entertainment industry. Categories include: Regional Club DJ OTY in four regions (Midwest; South; Northeast; West); Regional Club Open Format CJ OTY in two regions (Northeast; West); DJ Producer; DJ Album; Reggae DJ OTY; EDM DJ OTY; Celebrity DJ OTY; and many more. First held in New York Times Center in Manhattan, the 2012 GLOBAL SPIN AWARDS, hostedy by Sway Calloway, were not televised but streamed online at livestream.com. The next year, the event was again hosted by Sway at New York Times Center, but was streamed online at Revolt.TV. On Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at 8pm ET/5pm PT, Revolt TV aired the television debut of the 2014 GLOBAL SPIN AWARDS, hosted by La La Anthony at the New World Stage in Manhattan. Funk Master Flex was honored with the Legendary DJ Award and DJ Premier received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the third annual GSAs, which took place one week earlier on November 18 and was live streamed at Revolt.TV On Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at 9pm ET/6pm PT, Revolt TV premiered the 2015 GLOBAL SPIN AWARDS, hosted by Swizz Beatz. The event took place one week earlier (November 17) at the PlayStation Theater in New York City, where producer and musician Mark Ronson received the Breaking Barriers Award, hip-hop pioneer Afrika Bambaataa was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award, and many other DJs were celebrated for their work, passion and music.

On Thursday, February 23, 2017 at 10pm ET/7pm PT, Revolt premiered the 2017 GLOBAL SPIN AWARDS, hosted by T.I., one week after they were held at the Orpheum Theater in New Orleans on February 16 at the start of the NBA All-Star Weekend. DJ Spinderella was honored with the Breaking Barriers Award, presented to her by DJ Khaled, and DJ Clark Kent received the Lifetime Achievement Award.
