Plot Synopsis
GIVE ME SHELTER is a half-hour reality series that follows the daily lives of the veterinarians and staff at Pet Helpers, a non-profit, forever, animal shelter based in Charleston, SC. Since it was founded in 1978, Pet Helpers staff and volunteers have saved thousands of cats, dogs, and other animals. Saving animals is almost always a team effort full of setbacks, disagreements, drama, and animal triumphs. Filmed in 2012 and 2013, each 30-minute episode focuses on two or three stories, including: 23 puppies being rescued from an upstate shelter before they are euthanized; a dachshund mix with a broken leg that is surrendered by her owners; a surrendered dog faces a tough adoption due to it's chronic injury; two puppies must quickly be saved before they are euthanized; an emaciated pit bull covered in mange has been rescued by a volunteer and the staff works quickly to rehabilitate him; a special day to trap, spay, neuter and release a group of feral cats; a doctor resorts to acupuncture to save a kitten that was hit by a car; another cat is abandoned at Pet Helper's doorstep; and many more tales about how Pet Helpers rescues animals. Nat Geo Wild premiered the series on Saturday, June 6, 2015 from 7-9pm ET/PT, showing four back-to-back episodes.
