Plot Synopsis
In this Cold War spy thriller, the charismatic but paranoid head of MI5, known simply as Daddy, assembles a secret committee to investigate the existence of a devastating Soviet plot, codenamed Operation Glass, which was revealed by a defecting KGB officer. The exact nature of the threat is unclear. All the team knows is that the Soviets are reactivating sleeper agents across the UK, giving them each a task. In each one-hour episode of THE GAME, team receives a new name on the list. And each new name brings a new traitor to investigate, with a mission into the unknown and a step closer to understanding Operation Glass. Daddy's team includes: Bobby Waterhouse, the louche and ambitious head of counter-espionage; Sarah Montag, his dry-witted and fiercely clever deputy; her husband Alan, the nosey-parker, their cheerful and guileless expert in bugging and interception; Jim Fenchurch, a stoic and sceptical Special Branch detective; Wendy Straw, the naive and impressionable secretary; and Joe Lambe, the troubled but genius interrogator, able to read every tic and turn of human nature, but hiding dark secrets of his own. THE GAME premiered on Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at 10pm ET/PT as part of BBC America's "Dramaville" programming block.
