Plot Synopsis

Host James Woods explores the next breakthroughs in science and technology, revealing discoveries that will potentially alter life as we know it. From telepathy, to colonizing space, achieving eternal youth and the integration of robots in our world, FUTURESCAPE speaks to the pioneering scientists across the country who are uncovering radical breakthroughs that already have fundamentally changed the way we think about the world. What was once considered science fiction is more of a reality than most know, because the technologies being developed in labs and universities have already planted the seeds of radical change to the human condition. Each 60-minute episode focuses on a different topic, including: "Robot Revolution," which highlights cutting-edge experiments that have transformed machines into creatures with consciousness; "I Know What You're Thinking," which explores how telepathy helmets scan hidden memories in ways that may put an end to privacy forever; "Cheating Time," which chronicles how advances in medical technology are making old age a manageable chronic condition; "Replacing God," which highlights how scientists manipulate the building blocks of DNA to create new species; "Galactic Pioneers," which documents how recent advances in propulsion technology, warp drive, and solar energy are providing a new age of discovery; and "How to Be a Superhuman," which reveals how advancements in genetic engineering and neuroscience may free humans from physical limitations. Science Channel aired a sneak-peek episode of this series on Saturday, November 16, 2013 at 11pm ET/PT, followed by the official series premiere on Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at 10pm ET/PT.
