Plot Synopsis
While living and training together, 16 jousters vie for the $100,000 grand prize as they compete in elimination challenges that test strength, endurance and courage. This series features contestants wearing modern armor -- suits of steel that weigh 80 pounds -- and using 11-foot-long, solid fir lances for weapons, while high-speed cameras capture jousters charging and colliding at 30 miles per hour. Contestants include: Josh Avery, a 23-year-old knight, who has been training horses and jousting for five years at Medieval Times; Tom Conant, a 25-year-old horse trainer and polo player, who comes from a family of professional polo players and was polo team captain at UC-Davis for four years; Mike Edwards, a 40-year-old bartender and stuntman, who is a US Marine Corps veteran from Desert Storm; James Fairclough, a 25-year-old show jumper, who hails from a family of professional horsemen and won his first national championship when he was four-years-old; Matt Hiltman, a 24-year-old knight, who has amassed over 1,000 jousts as the youngest Head Knight in Medieval Times history; Nathan Klassen, a 33-year-old head trainer, who also rides bull professionally and has competed in almost every rodeo nationwide; Joshua 'Sasquatch' Knowles, a 28-year-old knight, who is so tough that he finished a show at Medeival Times even though he had a finger chopped off during the event; Jack Mathis, a 31-year-old pro jouster, who has been Head Knight at Medieval Times for the past 12 years; Josephy McKinley, a 29-year-old horse trainer, who is a fifth-generation professional horsemen and works with the LAUSD to bus inner city children to his riding school for free lessons; Landon Morris, a 27-year-old auctioneer, who is involved in the Society for Creative Anachronism's Medieval combat; Roper Myers, a 41-year-old Director of Champions Rodeo, who was the 2001 World Champion Steer Wrestler and a 2002 gold medalist at the Olympic Command Performance Rodeo; Jake Nodar, a 33-year-old horse trainer, who first volunteered at a horse rescue where he worked for free in exchange for riding lessons; David Prewitt, a 25-year-old contractor, who was a Scout Sniper team leader in the US Marine Corps before becoming an MMA fighter; John Stikes, a 28-year-old knight, who is a knight at Medieval Times, jousting for five years and proficient in stage combat with swords and spears; Paul Suda, a 26-year-old horse trainer, who is trained in German and Italian Medieval Martial Arts; and Brian Tulk, a 43-year-old firefighter, who is used to wearing 100 pounds of gear in relentless heat and competes in roping competitions while practicing in his own roping area in his backyard.
