Plot Synopsis
FRONTIER is a one-hour, adventure drama series that follows the chaotic and violent struggle to control wealth and power in the North American fur trade in the late 18th century. Told from multiple perspectives, the series takes place in a world where business negotiations might be resolved with close-quarter hatchet fights, and where delicate relations between Native tribes and Europeans can spark bloody conflicts. Mysterious, untamed, and wild like the land itself, Declan Harp has an infamous reputation as a ruthless trader, widely known throughout the Frontier as the unhinged and violent head of the Black Wolf Company. Harp and his highly skilled outfit have gained a lot of ground in the fur trade in a surprisingly short time, and a legitimate threat to the other companies. After being an accidental stowaway aboard a ship en route to the New World and leaving his love, Clenna, behind in London, Michael Smyth agrees to become a spy in the dangerous revenge game between Lord Benton and Harp, engaging in a delicate balancing act of betrayals, with two very violent men on either side. Benton forayed his formidable talents into a career as a high-ranking officer of the HBC. Born into privilege, he lives very well in this fortified corner of the Bay, continuing to enjoy his upper-class lifestyle while the people under his purview live and die in the muddy wild. Even though he's in the Frontier, he feels a man of his rank and station should have all the trappings of good society. A steepening decline in profits brings incredible pressure on Lord Benton from his bosses at the HBC, making his need to destroy the smaller companies -- and especially Harp -- even more urgent. Sokanon, an extraordinarily skilled hunter and tracker, is a critical member of Harp's inner circle of close confidantes. Suffering from her own tragic losses, the pain and fury she's lived drives her to mete out justice against the English, hoping it will quell the ghosts of the past. Her ghosts are inextricably tangled up in Harp's past with Lord Benton, however, and it will become clear to Sokanon that Harp's need for bloody revenge will ultimately trump her need for balance. FRONTIER had its U.S. debut on Friday, January 20, 2017 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT, as Netflix released the entire six-episode first season. Season 2 premiered in the United States on Friday, November 24, 2017 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT, as Netflix released all six episodes of the new season. While Declan Harp continues his vendetta against Lord Benton and the Hudson's Bay Company, the cutthroat fur trade becomes increasingly treacherous. The second season opens with Harp retreating to the far north and Michael forming a daring plan. Emberly strikes a deal with Chesterfield. Elizabeth cuts in on Grant's business. Then, as bounty hunters close in him, Harp turns to an old ally. Emberly and Chesterfield feud over their arrangement. Grant schemes to sabotage Elizabeth.

In Montreal, Michael tries coaxing Grant and the Brown brothers to join his alliance. In the far north, Harp closes in on his quarry. Harp commandeers a vessel and pursues Lord Benton across the Atlantic. Michael's duplicity comes to light as he tries to close the deal with Kamenna.
