Plot Synopsis

This scripted dramedy series is a continuation of the TV movie that GMC aired as an Original Gospel Stage Play on Saturday, April 14, 2012 at 7pm ET. FOR RICHER OR POORER follows Kya and Aubrey Wilson who are struggling to keep their marriage together, as they work through their financial difficulties after Aubrey loses his six-figure job when his boss is accused of embezzling funds. At the end of the TV movie, Aubrey is working a minimum-wage job while Kya decides to open an online consignment store. The series opens with Kya's consignment business taking off, and Aubrey admitting that he doesn't like his wife being the breadwinner. Despite his feelings, the couple can afford to move into a new apartment as they begin a new stage of their lives together. GMC aired back-to-back, sneak-peek episodes on Saturday, December 1, 2012 at 9pm ET, almost two months before GMC presented the same two episodes again as the official series premiere on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at 9pm ET.
