Plot Synopsis

FOR BETTER OR WORSE is a scripted, half-hour dramedy that focuses on three couples -- Angela & Marcus, Richard & Keisha and Joseph & Leslie -- at various stages of their relationships. These three couples are connected because Marcus recently partnered with Richard and Joseph on a new sports news program called "C-Sports Now" that they package and produce. Angela, a devoted mother, loving wife and owner of a successful beauty salon, runs her life, her salon, family and home with intensity and passion. For 13 years, Angela has been married to Marcus, a former professional football player who recently transitioned from the gridiron to the television studio. Former baseball player Richard is in the midst of the biggest transition of his life -- he is newly divorced and engaged to Keisha, the mother of Marcus' daughter, while having just left his secure, six-figure corporate job to go into business with Marcus and Joseph as the producer at "C-Sports Now." Keisha, the mother of Marcus' daughter Dominique, has accepted Richard's marriage proposal even though she is still in love with the father of her child. Joseph enjoyed a successful career as a professional tennis player before joining Marcus as one of the owners of "C-Sports Now" as Marcus' right-hand man on the anchor desk, and he has been living with Leslie for three years. Leslie, a great combination of beauty and brains, has a lucrative career as a real-estate agent, and as one of Angela's closest friends, she and her dog, Fifi, are frequent visitors to Lady Angie's Salon. After airing two seasons on tbs, FOR BETTER OR WORSE moves to a new channel, OWN, when the show returns for its third season on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at 9pm ET/PT with back-to-back episodes. In the Season 3 premiere, Leslie rushes to the hospital on her wedding day after finding out Joseph has been in a serious accident, leaving her pending nuptials to fiance Chris in question. After a four-month break, FOR BETTER OR WORSE returned with new episodes on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at 9pm ET/PT on OWN, with two, back-to-back new episodes. Following a marathon (4-9pm ET/PT) of encore episodes, the night's first new episode, "Stalked (Part 2)," Joseph can't shake the idea that Leslie is in some kind of danger when she stops answering the phone, but will he be able to save her from the stalker holding her captive? OWN aired the fall 2014 season premiere on Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at 9pm ET/PT. These new episodes center on Angela's ongoing suspicions that her husband Marcus is having an affair. Additionally, Richard and Keisha are working on relationship problems of their own, while Leslie and on-again-off-again boyfriend Joseph could be headed toward wedding bells. Meanwhile, Todd and Jennifer are each up to no good. On Friday, March 27, 2015 at 9pm ET/PT on OWN, FOR BETTER OR WORSE returned for its fourth season, immediately following an all-day (2-9pm) marathon of encore episodes from Season 3. In the season opener, "Told You So," Richard is bested by Keisha in the divorce settlement. His attempts to outmaneuver her only further inflamed her wrath and cost him everything -- even partial ownership of C-Sports Now. With no place to go, Richard needs a place to crash. And will karma finally catch up to Keisha, or is this queen bee's reign just getting started? After a three-month break, FOR BETTER OR WORSE returned with new episodes on Friday, September 11, 2015 at 9pm ET/PT, as OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network premiered back-to-back new episodes immediately following a seven-hour marathon (2-9pm) of encore episodes. In the rest of the season, Keisha and Richard's messy divorce causes tensions among their entire group of friends as well as creates problems for C-Sports. Richard leans heavily on his friendship with Marcus and Angela as he is forced to move in with them during this difficult time. Meanwhile, Joseph and Leslie are settling into life together and begin the harrowing task of planning a wedding. In the fall premiere (9pm), "Seventeen," Marcus and Angela learn more about Pam, the 17-year-old who claims to be his daughter. Then, in the night's second new episode (9:30pm), "Maury Settles It," the gang of friends barge in on Angela and Marcus to see the results of a DNA test to determine if Marcus is Pam's father. FOR BETTER OR WORSE returned for a new season on Friday, April 1, 2016 from 9-10pm ET/PT, as OWN premiered back-to-back new episodes immediately following a seven-hour marathon (2-9pm) of encore episodes. In the new season, Marcus and Angela, after dealing with a trying period of finding out that Marcus has a daughter, decide to explore expanding their family. Meanwhile, Joseph and Leslie are navigating the trials and tribulations of married life. Additionally, Jennifer and Richard form an unlikely alliance while they learn that all things happen for a reason. Throughout the season, this close-knit group of friends bring humor to the ups and downs of everyday life. FOR BETTER OR WORSE returned for its fifth season on Friday, September 30, 2016 from 9-10pm ET/PT, as OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network premiered back-to-back new episodes. In the season opener (9pm), "Three Times," Angela and Leslie try to mend a seemingly broken friendship with Jennifer. Then, in the night's second new episode (9:30pm), "The Flower Delivery," Keisha deceitfully intercepts Richard's gift for his new love. On Saturday, June 10, 2017 from 9-10pm ET/PT, OWN premiered a new season of FOR BETTER OR WORSE, showing back-to-back new episodes: "The Big Secret" (9pm): Marcus and Angela worry about having another child at this point in their lives. Meanwhile, Leslie and Jennifer have a big secret to tell their men. "Bodacious" (9:30pm): The men are all at odds with the women.

"Bodacious" (9:30pm): Angela and Marcus play a dangerous game of tit-for-tat.

"Two Can Play That Game" (10pm): Marcus' friend, Benny (guest star Dorsey Levens), reveals a secret to Marcus.
