Plot Synopsis

FLIP IT TO WIN IT is one-hour reality series that follows six pairs of expert house flippers/renovators in the San Francisco Bay Area of Northern California, as they compete at auction for properties, renovate their newly purchased homes, and then sell those houses for profit. In each 60-minute episode, the six teams have only a few hours before the auction to scout the outside of three homes being featured that day. Then, back at the courthouse steps, teams risk millions against other bidders, as they vie for these three properties -- houses they've never seen from the inside, which may come with a few surprises. Once the auction's over, the real work begins as the winning teams uncover the true state of their properties, and then do the necessary work to flip the homes for a profit. The teams are: Alisha, a Bay-area native with 17 years experience in real estate, and Josh, who learned from his father and uncle how to buy, renovate, and flip properties; Beau, a licensed real estate broker and managing director of a private money fund, and Greg, a contractor and owner of Naked Construction for the past five years; Mike, who hunts for great real estate bargains, and Manly, who oversees sales and real estate development; Dom, the renovator, and Krista, the real estate hunter, who together run Funders Group, a company that purchases and renovates homes from California to Washington, Arizona to Florida; Michael, the numbers guy formerly working for two of Silicon Valley's largest brokerages, and Todd, the auction expert with more than 15 years experience building, remodeling and selling residential and commercial real estate; and Rick, a realtor, and Vinnie, a contractor, who have over 30 years of real estate and renovation experience between them. In this series, the teams flip homes such as: a four-bedroom house in Los Gatos; a four-bedroom house in San Jose with an expensive trailer parked on the lot; a rare country home in Sunnyvale that incites a bidding war; an updated property near good schools in San Jose; a two-bedroom house in Redwood City; a mid-century modern home in Silicon Valley; a fixer upper ranch in San Jose; and many more Bay Area properties. HGTV first aired FLIP IT TO WIN IT's pilot episode on Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at 8pm ET/PT, ten months before the official series premiere on Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at 11pm ET/PT.
