Plot Synopsis

FIRST TIME FIXER is a half-hour docuseries that follows beginner-level couples, pairs and partners of all kinds, as they chronicle their real-life experiences as first-time house flippers and renovators. By utilizing footage shot by homeowners themselves, this series reveals the risk and reward that comes with trying something new, while highlighting what it really looks like to renovate a property from beginning to end.

On Monday, January 4, 2021 -- the day that discovery+ launched -- the streaming service released the first 24-minute episode of FIRST TIME FIXER, which will debut later on Magnolia Network. In this episode, "Salt Lake City Condo," best friends Brittany and Annie have always wanted to take on their own fixer-upper. With Chip and Joanna just a phone call away, they're ready to tackle this condo renovation in downtown Salt Lake City. Four months later -- on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at 8pm ET/PT -- DIY Network aired "Salt Lake City Condo" as a linear TV series sneak peek. FIRST TIME FIXER made its official linear television series debut on Friday, February 25, 2022 from 9-10pm ET/PT on Magnolia Network, as the cable channel debuted back-to-back new episodes.

The sophomore season of FIRST TIME FIXER premiered on Friday, October 8, 2021, as Magnolia Network dropped the first episode of the new season. First-time house renovators take their home renovation dreams into their own hands and experience the risk and reward that comes with trying something new. In the season opener, "Second Time's a Charm," best friends seek advice from Chip and Jo as they flip a rental in Utah. Season 2 of FIRST TIME FIXER made its linear television debut on Friday, April 15, 2022 at 8pm ET/PT on Magnolia Network.

Season 3 of FIRST TIME FIXER premiered on Friday, February 25, 2022 on the the Magnolia App. In the season opener, "Third Time's a Charm," best friends return for a third time to tackle their biggest project to date: flipping a ski chalet in Deer Valley, Utah. The stakes are high as they race to finish the project on time while facing a new set of challenges.

FIRST TIME FIXER returned for its fourth season on Friday, December 9, 2022, as the Magnolia App released a sneak peek of the first episode of the new season. Season 4 made its linear TV debut on Friday, February 3, 2023 at 8pm ET on Magnolia Network -- the same day when the season's second episode premiered on Magnolia Network at 8:30pm ET and earlier on the Magnolia App. In the season opener, "1920s Mountain Cottage Overhaul," a couple took a financial gamble buying a 1920s rundown cottage to overhaul before winter. Decades of wall layers, old piping and wiring have them grappling with a "down to the studs" rebuild, as well as a surprising relationship twist.

The fifth season of FIRST TIME FIXER debuted with three new episodes on Friday, October 20, 2023 on the Magnolia app.

Season 5 of FIRST TIME FIXER made its linear television debut with back-to-back episodes on Friday, April 5, 2024 from 8-9pm ET on Magnolia Network. In the season opener, "California Time Capsule Becomes Beautiful Cottage" (8pm), a couple wants to turn an antiquated California cottage into a stylish home; with only ten weeks and a tiny budget, these budding builders must work quickly to create a cozy space before the clock runs out. Then, in the second episode, "50-Year-Old Fixes First Flip" (8:30pm), a DIY enthusiast buys a neglected Texas property as her first fix-and-flip; with no experience and help from her parents, she hopes to make home renovations her new career at 50 years old.
