Plot Synopsis

Hosted by Leon Neyfakh and based on Neyfakh's podcast of the same name, FIASCO is a documentary series that focuses on a different historical event each season, transporting listeners into the day-to-day reality of America's most pivotal events, while shedding light on the present.

The six-episode first season of FIASCO focuses on the Iran-Contra affair, the Cold War-era debacle -- involving a secret war in Nicaragua and an arms-for-hostages deal with Iran -- that almost took down the presidency of Ronald Reagan. The story opens with the 1979 Iranian revolution and Jimmy Carter's failure to free American hostages setting the stage for Reagan's own hostage crisis.

On Sunday, October 24, 2021 at 10pm ET/PT, EPIX premiered "The Fall Guy," the Season 1 finale of FIASCO. The Justice Department launches an investigation into the Reagan administration's deals with Iran, and one man is chosen to take the fall for the President.
