Plot Synopsis

Four teams of two compete against each other in a series of fear-inducing elimination challenges as they vie for the $50,000 cash prize. Competitors must decide if they have the determination to face their most primal fears, as they are presented with a series of challenges that include the notorious big physical stunts that test the limits of the contestants' physical endurance and the ever-popular gross stunts that test their mental resolve. If fear stops them from completing a stunt or they fail the mission, they are immediately eliminated while the other pairs advance. The last team standing wins the cash prize. In the new season, the fear-inducing stunts include: hanging from a speeding helicopter; retrieving and eating scorpions; being strapped to the grill of a semi truck; escaping a submerged car; climbing on top of a moving bus and being yanked off by a helicopter that drops them into a speeding boat; being catapulted off a building towards a cargo net as they release flags; one team member lies covered with hundreds of snakes and the other transfers the snakes with his/her mouth; and completing a jet ski to helicopter flag transfer. Plus, each 60-minute program includes teams that have a common theme, such as families, business professionals, and beauty-and-the-geek couples. After showing no new shows since September 2006, NBC scared up new episodes of FEAR FACTOR by bringing the program back for a seventh season with back-to-back episodes on Monday, December 12, 2011 at 8pm ET/PT.
