Plot Synopsis
FAST N' LOUD follows automotive mastermind Richard Rawlings and mechanical prodigy Aaron Kaufman at the Dallas-based Gas Monkey Garage, as they return derelict rides to their former glory and get them back on the road -- but not without putting their own spin on them first. Richard and Aaron need big projects -- and big profits -- to keep Gas Monkey's doors open. Together, they travel the back roads of Texas, scouring barns, swap meets and open fields in search of rare rides to restore. Once Richard wheels and deals for a good price, the real work begins back at the garage, where the guys race against the clock to finish the job in time for auction. Richard, a Fort Worth native and owner of the Gas Monkey, has always had an extreme passion for cars. He owned three hot rods by the time he graduated from high school, and even took a bullet in the early '90s fighting off a carjacker who tried to steal his '65 Mustang 2+2 Fastback. Aaron, a restoration visionary, is entirely self-taught. A naturally talented mechanic determined to make things his own way, it was easy for him to fall into hot rod work -- and his sharp skills and eye for design landed him a job at Gas Monkey Garage.
On Monday, February 18, 2013 at 9pm ET, Discovery aired the Season 2 premiere of this series, immediately following a one-hour special, "Revved Up," during which Richard and Aaron held a launch party for the second season, while reflecting on the program's very first episode. Less than four months later, FAST N' LOUD returned for its third season on Monday, June 10, 2013 at 9pm ET/PT on Discovery, featuring the crew renovating a wrecked Ferrari F-40, '58 Corvette C1 and a Dead Head tour bus. On Monday, March 23, 2015 at 9pm ET/PT on Discovery, FAST N' LOUD returned for a new season, immediately following an all-day (9am-9pm) marathon of encore episodes. In the night's new episode, "'71 Scat Pack Challenger Part I," Richard and Aaron transform a vintage '71 Dodge Scat Pack Challenger by using the power of a 2015 Scat Pack Challenger under the hood. Richard invests in a concert venue and a '57 Shorty School bus gets a makeover with hilarious results.
Discovery premiered the seventh season of FAST N' LOUD on Monday, September 7, 2015 at 9pm ET/PT. This season begins with a new mantra for Richard: "Big Risk, Big Reward," and he will roll the dice on some of Gas Monkey Garage's most expensive builds ever, while Aaron and his team attempt to conquer new technologies to create one-of-a kind masterpieces. Richard starts his quest by scoring a '78 Cutlass, so Aaron can build Gas Monkey's first ever lowrider -- something he's never attempted before. Richard and Aaron also hit the road to pick up a classic red '68 Cadillac convertible, giving it the luxury treatment in a risky bid to attract a higher caliber of buyer -- even as costs escalate. Later, Richard heads to Kentucky to look at a prime '70 Ferrari 365, as his team attempts to soup up a near-totaled 2005 Ford GT. Richard also lands in Camaro heaven when he discovers a barn full of 16 vintage specimens.
On Monday, January 4, 2016 at 9pm ET/PT, Discovery premiered the eighth season of FAST N' LOUD, immediately following an all-day marathon (9am-9pm) of encore episodes. In the Season 8 opener, "Racing a '67 Dodge Dart - Part 1," Richard receives a drag race challenge from a couple of Internet upstarts, so he changes gears on his big '67 Dart build to transform it into the ultimate dragster. On Monday, September 5, 2016 at 8pm ET/PT, Discovery Channel premiered a new season of FAST N' LOUD, immediately following a 10-hour marathon (10am-8pm) of encore episodes. In the season opener, "Harley and Me," a 1942 Harley-Davidson WLA '45 is rebuilt for a vintage motorcycle race in New Jersey.
A new season of FACT N' LOUD premiered on Monday, January 16, 2017 at 9pm ET/PT on Discovery Channel, immediately following a nine-hour marathon (Noon-9pm) of encore episodes. The new season kicks off when Richard and Aaron come across a rare '55 Chevy. With the Barrett-Jackson Northeast auction on the horizon, the crew must work quickly to turn this beat up car into a hot classic. If they can finish in time, Richard will be able to bring the car to auction and secure a major payout. With the monkeys left back at the garage to work on the build, Aaron takes another run at the notoriously dangerous Pike's Peak road race and Richard opens a new Gas Monkey Bar and Grill in Key West, Florida. Then, Richard, Aaron and the monkeys head back in time, working on classic builds including an '80 El Camino and a '65 VW. Richard also returns to his high school roots when he finds and builds his very first high school car, a '74 Comet - a hot rod he WISHES he drove 20 years ago! Meanwhile, another dream comes to fruition when the Smokey and the Bandit fan club finds Richard the other car from his youth, a Red Trans Am. In the biggest undertaking of the season, the Gas Monkey Crew decides to build a race car, pulling out all the stops. Now all that's left to do is find a willing challenger.
On Monday, October 16, 2017 at 9pm ET/PT, Discovery Channel premiered the thirteenth season of FAST N' LOUD. With Aaron Kaufman's departure at the end of last season, Richard and his crew are entering a new stage at Gas Monkey Garage, setting out to prove the shop is still going strong. Richard and his team search high and low for forgotten and derelict vintage cars to buy and restore, and this season they're determined to go big - literally - by finding an original 1973 Chevy P30 Step Van and turning it into a hot rod. Throughout the season, guest builders Big Mike Sajid and Brian Bass also show off their skills and work with the Monkeys to build impressive hot rods. Without Aaron, the Monkeys work harder than ever before to turn even the most neglected cars into gold, and with Richard's eye for rare finds, the team gets their hands on some unique cars - including a 1965 Shelby GT Mustang. However, these rare cars come with hefty price tags. Will Richard and his crew at Gas Monkey Garage be able to finish cars and turn a profit without Aaron, or will they lose sight of looming deadlines with too many opinions on each build?
Season 14 of FAST N' LOUD premiered on Monday, March 12, 2018 at 9pm ET/PT on Discovery. This season, Richard and the Monkeys are tuning into a whole new groove at Gas Monkey Garage with bigger builds and higher horsepower. Motor mastermind Richard Rawlings travels the back roads, searching barns, garages and open fields for that one rare ride to restore. Once the deal is sealed, it's back to Gas Monkey Garage where Richard and his team work to turn the cars into gold. The new season takes Richard and the Monkeys into unfamiliar territory as they attempt to break new ground in the build space, risking their reputation in the process. Also, throughout the season, guest builder Big Mike works with the Monkeys to build custom hot rods. Going where no Monkey has gone before, Richard and his crew build their first import tuner -- a '75 Datsun 280Z -- with the help of Big Mike, but it's a race against time as they work to get the car ready for SEMA, a premier automotive specialty products trade event. Richard wants to kick the doors down "Monkey style" on this build and orders all of the parts directly from Japan, but his foolproof plan quickly goes south when Big Mike and the Monkeys run into a problem with the tools. As delays with fabrication and fitment pile up, Richard pulls the plug on a full color change for the car in order to keep the build on schedule. Now, all Richard can do is hope the Monkeys finish on time without making Gas Monkey's first tuner build a complete bust.
On Monday, July 8, 2019 from 9-11pm ET/PT, Discovery Channel premiered the fifteenth season of FAST N' LOUD. This season, Richard is putting everything on the line in hopes of taking Gas Monkey Garage to new heights and a new level of success in the hotrod world. With builds bigger than ever before, Richard's team wrestles with intricate projects, impossible deadlines and Richard's demanding standards. In the 2-hour season premiere, the crew attempts to recreate the iconic chase scene from the movie Bullitt, where Steve McQueen's '69 Mustang Fastback rips through the streets of San Francisco, with Chad McQueen himself joining the team to recreate the epic scene. In addition, a familiar face will be joining the Gas Monkey team this season, Russell J. Holmes from Discovery's GARAGE REHAB is the company's newest 'fixer' and oversees keeping the builds on time and on budget. The new season also features a partnership with HGTV and The Brady Bunch to build a station wagon, with Barry Williams spearheading an incredible surprise for the entire Brady kids cast. Going where no Monkey has gone before, the team also gives a '79 Scout II a super overhaul and turns a '52 Chevy into a vintage NASCAR winner. Throughout the season, Richard and the Monkeys will take on one of the most daunting builds ever as they attempt to create a monumental rebuild of a '72 Riviera supercar. Richard is taking Gas Monkey Garage in a new direction and pushing the boundaries on builds more than ever before, but will these elaborate builds prove to be too much for the Monkeys to handle?

Season 16 of FAST N' LOUD premiered on Monday, March 30, 2020 at 10pm ET/PT on Discovery Channel. With builds bigger than ever before, Richard Rawlings' team wrestles with intricate projects, impossible deadlines and demanding standards while Gas Monkey Garage solidifies its elite status in the hotrod world. Throughout the season, Richard, Russell J. Holmes and the crew push the boundaries on some of the most complex builds the garage has ever taken on. With a reputation as one of the best hotrod hunters in the world, Richard has proven that he and his team can take on any elaborate build that comes their way. In the series premiere, Richard teams up with legendary actor/humanitarian, Gary Sinise, to transform two Jeeps for his Gary Sinise Foundation into a "star"-studded salute. He and his crew set out to give these two Jeeps a Gas Monkey transformation, kicking off the build with a rusty '81 CJ7 -- and their sights are set on turning it into a rare Super Jeep from the 70's to be sold at auction to raise money for Gary's Foundation. But it's a race against the clock as the Monkeys face setbacks that could jeopardize Gas Monkey Garage's most charitable challenge to date. Richard is pushing the garage to new levels of success with intricate builds and celebrity clientele, but will a rigorous schedule and detailed designs prove to be too much for the Monkeys to manage?
