Plot Synopsis

FAMILY BEEF is a reality series that follows cattle farmer Big Tom Buchanan, a fan-favorite contestant on SURVIVOR: AFRICA and SURVIVOR: ALL-STARS, and the rest of his multigenerational family of farmers in rural Virginia. Keeping a 2,000-acre farm financially afloat is no easy task, especially in an age where corporate-owned farms rule the roost, but the Buchanans persevere through hard work, love and laughs. Whether they're taking on a job to cut trees so they can buy feed for their cattle, rescuing a distressed cow out of a muddy pit, or building a fence to secure a $200,000 clean-water reimbursement by keeping the farm's cattle out of the creek, this boisterous, close-knit family survives harsh times together. Nat Geo aired the two-episode pilot of FAMILY BEEF on Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at 9pm ET/PT, but had no additional episodes on its schedule at that time, waiting for ratings and viewer response before deciding whether to order additional episodes.
