Plot Synopsis

Created by David Spade, FAMELESS is a half-prank/half-sketch series that follows unsuspecting desperate-to-be-famous individuals who believe they've been cast on a reality series -- fake shows with titles like HILLBILLY HANDFISHING and WHAT'S IN MY MOUTH? -- but, unbeknownst to them, they are really filming a parody with improv actors creating over-the-top scenarios. In the end, they all learn the naked truth: that this is actually a prank show. Each half-hour episode features a different group of marks and guest actors in three different setups, including the series premiere, during which a guitarist and karate master nearly come to blows at an audition for a fake talent show, TALENT FACE OFF, with David Spade as one of three judges; a wannabe cop gets lured into a high-speed chase down memory lane in the spoof reality series BACKSEAT JUSTICE; and a competition named SIAMESE SURVIVOR forces a contestant to be tied to an overweight, over-the-top actor in the woods. In the second episode, celebrity guests Ben Feldman, Michael Bolton, and Gina Gershon are on a panel that hears Hollywood movie pitches on a fake reality show called PITCH S#!T. On Monday, January 11, 2016 at 10pm ET/PT, truTV premiered the "Hall of Fameless: The Best 10 Pranks" special of FAMELESS. In this new one-hour special, David Spade guides viewers through the ranks of the most hilarious highlights from the first season of FAMELESS, showcasing real people who have no idea they're appearing on fake reality shows. FAMELESS returned for its winter premiere on Monday, January 18, 2016 from 10-11pm ET/PT, as truTV premiered back-to-back new episodes featuring special guests Jaleel White (10pm) and Jamie-Lynn Sigler (10:30pm). In the mid-season premiere (10pm), "The Jumper," a know-it-all unknowingly turns a battle of wits into a gorilla war, a wannabe star finds himself trapped inside a mental institution, and a "cop for a day" sends a troubled stranger over the edge. Then, in the night's second new episode (10:30pm), "Unfinished Business," an exorcism turns to puppy love during a surprising climax, something blue happens when wedding bells ring for the wrong girl, and a self-proclaimed genius looking to bait crooks winds up taking the bait himself. On Monday, August 1, 2016 from 10-11pm ET/PT, truTV premiered Season 2 of FAMELESS, showing back-to-back new episodes. In the season opener (10pm), "The Invasion," an aspiring news anchor's first day on the job might be her last day on earth, and a slick TV host inadvertently uses his newfound powers for evil. Then, in the night's second new episode (10:30pm), "The ShawPrank Redemption," a prison prank becomes a prison break, an angry robot gets its buttons pushed, and an "expert" on dog discipline discovers a terrifying new breed. One day earlier -- Sunday, July 31 -- at the Television Critics Association Summer Press Tour, truTV announced it greenlit 12 additional episodes of FAMELESS. After a seven-week break, FAMELESS returned with new episodes on Monday, November 28, 2016 from 10-11pm ET/PT, as truTV debuted back-to-back new episodes. In the opener (10pm), "I Robot?," an aspiring traffic cop discovers that his job involves more intense labor than expected, a diva host gets a huge reality check, and a would-be trickster experiences a major glitch when his robotic prank short-circuits. Then, in the night's second new episode (10:30pm), "One Bad Egg," a wannabe nature expert is targeted; an aspiring magician's assistant thinks he has a gift; and a host makes someone jealous.

On Monday, February 6, 2017 at 10pm ET/PT, truTV premiered the Season 2 finale of FAMELESS. In the season ender, "Tornado Alley," a lively host gets charged up for her debut but finds herself in a shocking predicament, a wannabe television writer thinks he's delivered the perfect pitch, and an aspiring crime fighter accidentally becomes a not-so-smooth criminal.
