Plot Synopsis

As told by the those who lived with people who became killers, EVIL LIVES HERE use first-person interviews and never-before-told accounts of the years and critical moments leading up to these vicious acts, showcasing the devastating and often undiscussed consequences on the people who have nurtured, loved and raised a murderer. Viewers are put in the shoes of the loved one, who lived through this incredible experience -- from first noticing that something is amiss, to interpreting all of the puzzling signs and clues, to eventually coming face-to-face with the horrible truth: that the person they loved, the person they trusted, has a very dark side. Each one-hour episode tells the story of a different killer's friends and family members, including: Ronald Hawkins and Candace Sims open up about their son, Robbie, who killed nine people - including himself - in a mass shooting at a mall in Omaha, Nebraska in December 2007; Danyall White tells the gripping true story of her brother Richard, who hid a monstrous secret from her; Cathy, who hought she had found the man of her dreams in Peter Tobin -- but by the time she discovered his dark secret, it was too late; Kevin Currie, who realized Mormon prophet Jeffrey Lundgren was really a devil in disguise with an evil plan; Bernadette, whose boyfriend, Brian Sugrim, told her when she was only 17 years old that he had murdered someone -- but only years later would she realize the true evil that Brian was capable of; and Sheila Janutolo, who dreaded being alone with her husband Jim Cruz because of his violent temper -- but even she couldn't believe the he had committed the crime for which he was arrested.

Season 2 of EVIL LIVES HERE premiered on Sunday, January 1, 2017 at 10pm ET/PT on Investigation Discovery. In the season opener, "Not My Boy," George and Margaret Keller never suspected that the man terrorizing their city could be a member of their own family. As it dawns on them that their son is hiding a sinister secret, they must decide whether or not to turn him in.

The third season of EVIL LIVES HERE premiered on Sunday, January 7, 2018 at 9pm ET/PT on Investigation Discovery. In the season opener, "The Monster I Married," when Cindy first fell in love with Bobby, she never imagined that she would one day regret not committing murder. But years after she first discovered the horrifying truth, she is still haunted by the night when she decided not to kill him in his sleep.

Season 4 of EVIL LIVES HERE premiered on Monday, August 13, 2018 at 9pm ET/PT on Investigation Discovery. In the season opener, "I Invited Him In," Jill Garrison thought her second go-around with love would be the one that lasted the rest of her life. But then her quiet town suddenly began to be preyed upon by a nightmarish killer. Jill didn't realize that she had invited a monster into her home.

On New Year's Day 2019 (Tuesday, January 1) at 8pm ET/PT, Investigation Discovery premiered the fifth season of EVIL LIVES HERE. In the season opener, "You Know My Brother's Name," when Karen Kuzma was a little girl, she adored her older brother. As they grew older, she saw changes in him that she didn't understand, but it never occurred to her that he was becoming the most infamous serial killer in American history.

Season 6 of EVIL LIVES HERE premiered on Sunday, July 14, 2019 at 9pm ET/PT on Investigation Discovery. In the season ender, "I Tried to Prevent This," for 17 years, Kathy Swanson feared her son, Michael, would one day harm someone. For 17 years, she tried in vain to convince people that something about Michael was different until that dreadful day finally came that her worst nightmare came true.

The seventh season of EVIL LIVES HERE premiered on Sunday, January 5, 2020 at 9pm ET/PT on Investigation Discovery. In the season opener, "It Was All Judith," when Corey Breininger was a child, his stepmother, Judith Hawkey, coerced him into doing something horrible. Tormented by guilt, he kept her deadly secret for years. Knowing what she was capable of, how could he ever tell the truth and hope to survive?

Investigation Discovery debuted the eighth season of EVIL LIVES HERE on Sunday, August 23, 2020 from 9-10:30pm ET/PT. In the 90-minute season opener, "I Killed Dirty John," not long after Terra Newelll met her mother's new boyfriend, she senses John Meehan was no good. Debra Newell never suspected her new man was plotting to destroy her and her family. And Terra never imagined she would ultimately be forced to kill.

For its ninth season, EVIL LIVES HERE debuted on discovery+ on Sunday, February 14, 2021 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT. The season opener, "What If He Was Innocent?," made its linear television debut later that same day at 9pm ET/PT on Investigation Discovery. In the season premiere (42 minute without commercials), some say Cameron Todd Willingham was wrongfully convicted, and the court put an innocent man to death. But Stacy Kuykendall knew Todd better than anyone, and she's convinced that he was a monster who was guilty as charged...and deserved to die.

Season 10 of EVIL LIVES HERE premiered on Sunday, July 11, 2021 on Investigation Discovery. In the season opener, "My Son Should Die in Prison," a man believes his murderous son deserves to die in prison.

EVIL LIVES HERE returned for its eleventh season on Sunday, February 20, 2022 at 9pm ET/PT on Investigation Discovery. This season takes viewers through the terror, pain, and lingering trauma that comes hand-in-hand with living in close proximity to evil -- from a sister's terrifying realization that her brother is far more evil than she could have thought and a man deep in denial over his girlfriend's deadly actions to an ex-wife determined to avoid a divorce by any gruesome means necessary and a stepson too dangerous and sick to be believed. The season opener, "Locked in the Closet," features features a devastating account of a deeply disturbing case of child abuse. Survivor Jesse Eging painfully shares the horrific abuse and terror he and his siblings experienced at the hands of his mother's live-in girlfriend, Alice Jenkins. What started as small, cruel acts of dominance by Alice, perceived by Jesse and his siblings as "games", quickly escalated into full blown acts of abuse -- turning Jesse's once happy childhood home into a house of horrors. At the hands of Alice, Jesse and his siblings were victimized endlessly -- finding themselves trapped in a closet for months at a time, being beaten, starved, and denied all basic human needs. Only once Jesse and his siblings managed to escape was he able to shed light on the terror he experienced.

Season 12 of EVIL LIVES HERE premiered on Sunday, July 3, 2022 at 10pm ET/PT on Investigation Discovery. In the season opener, "He Should Have Died Sooner," when George Yzaguirre kills himself in prison, he takes his secrets with him, and his ex-wife, Jennifer Meyer, is left to wonder how many of her memories might hold the keys to unsolved crimes and whether or not she'll ever know the truth about him.

EVIL LIVES HERE returned for its thirteenth season on Sunday, January 22, 2023 at 9pm ET/PT on Investigation Discovery. In the season opener, "I Watched Daddy Bury Mommy," a young girl witnesses her father burying a dark secret in their backyard.

On Sunday, March 5, 2023 at 9pm ET/PT, Investigation Discovery premiered He Looks Like the Killer on TV," a new episode of EVIL LIVES HERE being called a season debut by many listing and streaming services. In this episode, Margie Bult thinks her second husband is too good to be true from the start, but when a friend tells her to turn on the TV and she sees a fugitive named Paul Steven Mack who resembles him, she vows to uncover the truth no matter the risk to herself.

Season 15 of EVIL LIVES HERE premiered on Sunday, February 18, 2024 from 9-11pm ET/PT on Investigation Discovery. In the two-hour season opener, "The Butcher and the Box," Lori and Brook have one terrible commonality: Gary Simmons; Gary tortures Lori during their 6-year marriage, and later he imprisons and violates Brook; the two women meet for the first time and share their stories.

The 16th season of EVIL LIVES HERE debuted on Sunday, August 25, 2024 at 9pm ET/PT on Investigation Discovery. People continue to recount their harrowing true stories about living side-by-side with sociopathic friends or family who go on to commit heinous crimes. Many are at first fooled into thinking these sly charmers are good and kind, but signs soon come to light that these loved ones are truly evil at heart. In the season opener, "He Saved Her Life, Then Took It," Betty hopes her sister's son, Chance, is a beacon of hope in their troubled lives, but Betty sees his dark side early on; he lacks empathy and becomes violent until he explodes in a fit of rage, harming the one person who cared for him most.
