Plot Synopsis

In this two-part documentary, Professor Jim Al-Khalili explores the true size and shape of the universe and delves into the amazing science behind apparent nothingness. The two episodes are: "Everything," which investigates how our understanding of space has been shaped by both mathematics and astronomy, while revealing the remarkable stories of the men and women who discovered the truth about the cosmos; and "Nothing," which explores the quantum world of the super-small, featuring the most profound insight about reality that humanity has ever made -- that everything came from nothing. Science aired the U.S. premiere of this program on Friday, October 19, 2012 at 9pm ET, showing both episodes back to back.
