Plot Synopsis

Created and executive produced by series star Brian Jordan Alvarez, ENGLISH TEACHER is a half-hour comedy series that follows Evan Marquez, a high school teacher at Morrison-Hensley High School in Austin, TX, who's trying to balance the competing demands of the students and their parents in a world where the rules seem to change every day. Evan often finds himself at the intersection of the personal, professional and political aspects of working at a high school, and he wants to be a principled person -- but often runs into trouble because of it. Evan is joined by: Gwen, his best friend and history teacher at Morrison, who tends to see the best in people -- even when she probably shouldn't; Markie, the school's gym teacher and athletic director; Rick, the school's guidance counselor, who barely wants to be at this school -- he sees himself as an entrepreneur -- but still loves hanging out with the other teachers; Principal Grant Moretti, who wants nothing more than peace and the path of least resistance; Malcolm, his ex-boyfriend and former teacher at Morrison; and Harry, a charming new teacher, who seems interested in him. The first two episodes of the eight-episode season debuted on Monday, September 2, 2024 from 10-11pm ET/PT on FX.
