Plot Synopsis

Based on Stephen L. Carter's 2002 book of the same name, EMPEROR OF OCEAN PARK is a one-hour drama series that's set in the worlds of politics, elite academia, and the beaches of Martha's Vineyard. It follows Talcott Garland, an esteemed law professor whose quiet life is shattered when his father, Judge Oliver Garland, dies of an apparent heart attack. The nature of the judge's death is questioned by Tal's sister, Mariah, a former journalist and inveterate conspiracy theorist, who believes that the judge, a failed Black nominee to the Supreme Court, met with foul play. Episodes include:

"Chapter One" (Sunday, July 14, 2024 at 10pm): After Judge Oliver Garland is found dead in his home, his three adult children, Addison, Mariah, and Tal gather for the funeral; shocked by her father's sudden passing, Mariah begins questioning if foul play was involved.

"Chapter Two" (Sunday, July 21, 2024 at 10pm): Two years after his shock announcement, The Judge contemplates his next career move; discovering that another person close to their family has been murdered, Mariah's suspicions around her father's passing grow further.

"Chapter Three" (Sunday, July 28, 2024 at 10pm): Tal's paranoia grows following his mysterious run in with Agent McDermott; Mariah's investigation into her father's death has her reminiscing on her career as a Pulitzer award-winning journalist.

A new installment debuts each Sunday on MGM+ through September 15.
