Plot Synopsis

Based on the character featured in THE GOOD WIFE and THE GOOD FIGHT, ELSBETH is a one-hour drama series that centers on Elsbeth Tascioni, an astute but unconventional attorney, who utilizes her singular point of view to make unique observations and corner brilliant criminals alongside the NYPD. After leaving her successful legal career in Chicago to tackle a new investigative role in New York City, Elsbeth finds herself jockeying with the toast of the NYPD, Captain C.W. Wagner, a charismatic and revered leader. Working alongside Elsbeth is Officer Kaya Blanke, a stoic and ethical officer who quickly develops an appreciation for Elsbeth's insightful and offbeat ways. Season 1 guest stars include Linda Lavin, Retta, Jane Krakowski, Blair Underwood, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, and more.

Season 2 of ELSBETH debuted on Thursday, October 17, 2024 at 10pm ET/PT on CBS. Carrie Preston is back as Elsbeth Tascioni, the astute but unconventional consent decree attorney working with the NYPD to catch New York's most well-heeled murderers utilizing her unique point of view. Season two of the critically acclaimed series brings new cases and challenges when mistakes of the past come back to haunt Elsbeth, her boss Captain Wagner, and detective in training Officer Kaya Blanke. In the season opener, "Subscription to Murder," when a womanizing finance executive is found stabbed to death after a night at the opera, Elsbeth suspects an obsessed opera lover (guest star Nathan Lane) was driven to murder because of a ringing cell phone. Meanwhile, Elsbeth, Captain Wagner and Kaya must adjust to changes in the precinct as the consequences of Noonan's wrongdoing continue to loom.

On Thursday, December 19, 2024 at 10pm ET/PT, CBS premiered "Toil and Trouble," the mid-season finale of ELSBETH. Elsbeth is thrown into the world of television after the showrunner of a long-running police procedural is brutally murdered in his office, and although it appears to be the act of a disgruntled fan, she begins to suspect the show's longtime star Regina Coburn (guest star Laurie Metcalf), who yearns for artistic fulfillment. Meanwhile, Judge Crawford (guest star Michael Emerson) continues to be a thorn in Elsbeth's side.
